Fashionable swimwear in retro style: vintage models for thin and full. Swimwear in the USSR Women 50 70 in swimsuits

Until the 60s, it was difficult for us with swimsuits for girls, many on the beach wore only panties, no one even thought about pedophilia! The girls already had breasts, but the top was most often not covered - this was not accepted. Little children generally sunbathed naked, it was considered good for health, I have such photos.

But it was different in different families, I remember my wrinkled swimsuit with a skirt, I was five years old then. Many wrote that their mothers and grandmothers in the 50s-60s-70s sewed swimsuits themselves, from chintz, satin, and what they could get. The magazines had patterns and instructions. In the post, I posted pictures from Western fashion magazines and photos of actresses, you look and think - why our women were deprived of such things all these years, who in the USSR did this interfere with ???

used the old knitted dresses and blouses - in general, everything that was good. Since the USSR categorically did not buy bikinis, I also sewed them myself.

I forgot to write that knitted swimsuits were in fashion, many knitted them themselves and it turned out very well.

What unpleasantly surprised me in the comments is the opinion that our women are terrible. It must not be forgotten that since the 1920s a massive influx of peasants to large cities, to factories and factories began. Peasants everywhere looked about the same - physical labor, work in the field form similar types of appearance.

Thinness and harmony were almost never appreciated, if you look at Western and American photos of farmers and peasants of those years, you will see very similar faces and build. So it is incorrect to compare our everyday photos with Hollywood stars and fashion models, I bring them for the sake of fashion trends and styles.

There are swimsuits that will adorn any woman, but there are those that disfigure.
Buttoned satin bras complete with black men's underpants - you saw a lot of such photos in the first post, and so they walked with us until the 70s!

The advent of the bikini has caused a lively discussion around the world. In Catholic countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy, bikinis have been banned. Tourists who dared to appear in it on the seashore were escorted back to the hotel by the Spanish guard.

They won a “place in the sun” with great difficulty and scandals and were quite modest, by modern standards, just low panties.

In America, bikinis took root with great difficulty, the country was then sanctimonious and such liberties were condemned.

In Europe, bikinis spread in the 60s.
The USSR did not buy bikinis on principle until perestroika, as well as low panties - someone at the top considered such models obscene.

In the 70s, it was possible to buy imported swimwear from us, but very beautiful, with difficulty.
Bikinis were still sewn by themselves or remade from high panties, they were only on sale just below the waist:

I remember very well the kilometer-long queues in GUM, they stood all day and often the goods ended before your turn came up.
In “Yadran”, when the deficit was thrown out - even at the entrance there were frames of fences for the queue, people froze for hours in the cold.

63. Beginning:
============

Working on swimwear collections for the past summer, designers were inspired by different eras: the conservative style of the 30s, the intoxicating freedom of the 70s, the triumphant femininity of the 90s. Almost everything was allowed, but the path to such freedom took a whole century, which we propose to take a look at right now.

Even though the sea has existed on Earth since its creation, people have not always been able to afford to enjoy it to the fullest. At least intelligent ones. At the beginning of the twentieth century, they, if they appeared on the beach, were buttoned up.

Until the 1920s, ladies bathed in long layered outfits with a corsage, and even with a crinoline. It was prescribed to cover the legs with thick stockings and, if possible, not to neglect shoes - cloth shoes, sandals or lace-up boots. The heads of beautiful bathers were crowned with a cap. Of course, there was no talk of any swimming - if the ladies went into the water, then only knee-deep.

However, not everyone obeyed the rules. So, among the troublemakers was the Australian actress Annette Kellerman (Annette Kellerman). She was perhaps the first to decide to bare her arms and legs, sewing herself a bathing suit based on men's tights. The trick entailed a cruel retribution - the actress, who was ahead of her time, was branded with shame and forced to adapt the costume to the requirements of the champions of morality - sew on sleeves, a tight collar and legs.

In the 1920s, morals noticeably softened: women were allowed to demonstrate their arms and even legs on the beach. But they immediately hurried to establish the exact limits of what was permitted: bathing suits had to cover the buttocks without fail.

Self-respecting women were required to wear swimsuits, the bottom edge of which should not be higher than 6 inches above the knee (about 15 cm). Even special, let's say, "moral squads" were formed, whose fighters, armed with a centimeter tape, took measurements on the beaches in order to determine whether the bathers' outfits corresponded to established standards.

Bathing suits take on a new meaning - famous fashion designers are interested in them. Elsa Schiaparelli and Jean Patou are making their first experiments in this still new genre. A special chic is to complement the costume with an accessory, for example, an intriguing rubber hat.

Now women on the beach are not concerned about the length of the suit, but its style and color. But men - on the contrary - are pleased that the fabrics for swimwear began to go much less. In 1932, Jacques Heim slapped the public taste with a slap in the face - he introduced the first two-piece swimsuit. By today's standards, very chaste: high shorts and a bra, more like a top. But - oh, horror - he opens the eyes of the curious to the waist, and sometimes the navel of the owner

At first, women resist, but rather sluggishly and soon, having appreciated all the delights of swimming and, of course, sunbathing in a two-piece swimsuit, they gladly refuse one-piece suits.

1940s

Separate swimsuits are becoming a real hit. It would seem, is it possible to look even more frank?

In 1946, designer Louis Reard proved that it is possible, and how. He creates the world's first bikini swimsuit. Finding a model who would agree to demonstrate it in public turned out to be a real problem. The situation was saved by the dancer Micheline Bernardini, who happily tried on a swimsuit, which, as they later wrote, "tells everything about a woman except her mother's maiden name."

One of the first followers of Micheline becomes a contender for the title of "Miss World". A slutty girl is kicked out of the competition along with her microscopic swimsuit. A few years later, going out in an immoral bikini becomes mandatory for all participants.

Initially forbidden, bikinis are steadily gaining popularity. This happens not without the participation of a new sex symbol - actress Brigitte Bardot. In 1953, she arranges a high-profile action in support of a revealing swimsuit - she walks around in Cannes in a bikini so tiny that it plunges eyewitnesses into a real shock. It must be pleasant. Soon hundreds, and then thousands of women follow the example of a blonde actress.

In 1958 - another breakthrough. Invented a new material - lycra (Lycra). Stretchy, instantly drying, it remains a top favorite for swimwear designers to this day.

The sexual revolution of the 60s allowed designers to finally release the brakes. In 1962, the screens out the first series of "true" Bondiana - "Doctor No". The key moment of the tape is not even the reprisal of Agent 007 with the villain, but the famous scene of the appearance of Ursula Andress (Ursula Andress) from the sea foam.

In 1964, a model in a bikini first appears on the cover of a glossy magazine - Sports Illustrated becomes a pioneer. In the same year, designer and ardent gay activist Rudi Gernreich invents the monokini - a swimsuit that completely exposes the breasts. The world is learning the new term "topless" and beachwear vendors are starting to sell swim trunks separately from the top.

Monokini shamelessly showed the bust of the owner, but the buttocks for the time being remained closed. In the 70s, the last bastion fell: tanga swimming trunks were invented, which were immediately nicknamed "dental floss".

However, the trend towards exposure was not total. Designers began to experiment with cut and finish. Sequined one-piece swimsuits with slits at the waist, hips and other seductive places are becoming popular.

Dasha Knyazeva

IN RECENT YEARS, DESIGNERS HAVE MANAGED TO REMEMBER ALL AGES; now they actively combine things with details of the 60s and 90s with modern models. At the same time, few people seek to literally recreate the images of past decades - so swimsuits with a high thigh cut, as in films from the 80s, today look quite in the spirit of the times. We tell you where to look for the most fashionable swimsuit of this summer.

Oysho

The Oysho model is somewhat reminiscent of Yeezy underwear. Thanks to the wide elastic band on the pants, an unusual shade, textured material and a model of a bodice similar to a sports bra, this swimsuit will surely appeal to even those who are not at all close to the era of the 80s - it looks so relevant to the moment. Unfortunately, the bodice from the set is currently not available in the online store, but you can try your luck in the flagship. The price for the set will be around 4500 rubles.

Norma Kamali

The Norma Kamali brand always turns to retro silhouettes. Her strong point is swimwear with high underpants, one-piece and separate models with drapery, as well as beachwear made from unusual materials like lamé. Their model, dedicated to the 80s, is called "Marissa" and is made in different shades beige - from light powdery to dark. But our favorite, of course, is the deluxe golden one.

£109

Dos gardenias

Sophisticated beige shade, thin straps, no catchy details - this swimsuit is good for literally everything, except for the price. Dos Gardenias was founded by two surfers in Los Angeles, a city where many independent beachwear brands are based. By the way, Dos Gardenias has other minimalist models in case you don’t like a one-piece swimsuit with high cutouts.

€219

Zara

This bright red swimsuit is a synergy of trends from the 80s and 90s, textured ruched fabric is reminiscent of sundresses from childhood. This model is a good compromise between price and quality and is suitable for those who love bright colors. We are sure that it will look relevant for a long time to come.

H&M

Due to the thin straps and the specific design of the model, the bodice of this cute swimsuit, unfortunately, is not suitable for everyone: support big breasts he is unable to. For those who liked the thing, we advise you to hurry up: some sizes have already been taken apart.

Mango

White looks especially impressive on the beach. At the same time, everyone who has experimented with light-colored things for relaxation knows how insidious they can be: there is a chance that after getting wet, the swimsuit will become translucent. This model should not let you down - and all thanks to the textured fabric; as a bonus - good wide straps and a beautiful neckline on the back.

Adriana Degreas

This summer, pay attention to colors that may have seemed “outdated” before, like turquoise, mint and lilac - all shades from the 2000s are back with us. Especially actively designers use them for sportswear, so we vote for the turquoise version.

€234

Arket

Swedes Arket - younger sister H&M, COS and & Other Stories are distinguished by a much more conscious approach to creating collections. The brand has only a few models of swimsuits, but everything is like a selection - this one can be found in the site's moodboard dedicated to khaki color. If you are on vacation where there is an Arket offline store, be sure to check it out.

€45

Moschino

The 2000s-inspired large logo swimsuit is now available at 60% off. Although doctors advise caution when wearing swimsuits outside the beach and pool, it's easy to imagine how spectacular he will look with denim shorts or light trousers. What you need for relaxation.
