Weekends and public holidays throughout the year

Every year, changes are made to the production calendar related to the transfer of various holidays, including church ones. This is due to the fact that some holidays fall on weekends. According to the current legislation, these days are shifted either to the next working days, or by special decree are transferred to the days of other months. This approach allows you to make the holidays continuous. This is economically beneficial and justified from the point of view of the convenience of citizens. The largest number of days off falls on the New Year holidays and in the month of May.

Preliminary information posted officially helps you plan your weekends and vacations by booking tours in advance, booking hotels and purchasing tickets. In many cases, such advance planning helps to make your dreams come true, since for many weekends, especially New Year's holidays, it is simply unrealistic to purchase tours and tickets.

Note! Reservations are often made six months before the trip itself.

So, let's figure out how to relax in 2016.

The most joyful holidays in January

The Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, in accordance with Article 112 Part 2 of the Labor Code, decided to transfer the days off on which the holidays fell on January 2 and 3 to other days, so that workers could spend more holidays without breaks.

The day off is transferred from Saturday, January 2 to Tuesday, May 3, and Sunday, January 3 - to Monday, March 7. This practice is common and rational, helping to keep the holidays going and allowing people to go on holiday this weekend.

Note! In the new 2016, we will all rest for ten whole days - from January 1 to January 10 inclusive.

Weekends for January holidays are summed up with non-working holidays in January. These are January 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, which fall on the New Year holidays, and January 7, when all Orthodox people celebrate Christmas. All these data are approved in accordance with Article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

Such a serious vacation will allow many to have a great rest at home, as well as have time to go on a tourist trip, go skiing, skating and sledding. A long winter vacation will benefit the body, and the smallest will give numerous New Year's parties and performances, where they can go with the whole family, together with mom and dad. Congratulations and gifts received from relatives and friends, as well as in store by Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, will make New Year's holidays for children as desirable as for adults.

February weekend

In February 2016, the days from Sunday 21 to Tuesday 23 February were turned into holidays. This was done in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Three days of rest in a row turned out due to the transfer of the day off from Saturday February 20 to Monday February 22. As a result, we have the opportunity to plan a winter trip for three free days or just relax and unwind.

February is not in vain considered the most difficult month - these are the last breaths of winter, when the weather is not at all happy, and strength is running out. A little rest would be very helpful.

Note! Unfortunately, Saturday became a working day, because the day off from Saturday, February 20, was moved to Monday, February 22.

Holidays in March

The non-working days of 2016 in March include four whole days - from Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 March. The postponement from Sunday, January 3 to Monday, March 7 helped to celebrate International Women's Day for so long. It would seem that a day off for the New Year turned out to be very useful in March, because the women's holiday in our country is loved and revered, and spring further contributes to the desire to properly relax and have fun.

After a long winter, spring holidays are especially valuable and pleasant.

May holidays in 2016

On the May holidays, it is customary for us to arrange picnics and country trips, getting out there with families and noisy groups of friends. This year, the May holidays will take time from April 30, Saturday, to May 3, Tuesday. During this time, everyone will have time to relax, enjoying the steady heat, blooming gardens and traditional May barbecues.

How many days we will rest in May depends on what days the holidays fall on. This year, the May 1 holiday falls on Sunday, a day off, therefore, according to the law, it was moved to Monday. Another day off appeared as a result of the transfer of January 2 to May 3. As a result, in May 2016 Workers' Solidarity Day became a four-day holiday.

But that is not all. In May, we will rest for 3 more days - from May 7 to 9, from Saturday to Monday, celebrating Victory Day over Nazi Germany with our family and friends. These days we will remember all those who did not return from this war, who shed their blood and worked with their last strength in the rear. These are our grandfathers and grandmothers, it is to them that we now owe the opportunity to work calmly, relax and enjoy the peaceful sky, hoping for a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.

June holidays

In honor of the Day of Russia, the working people of our vast Motherland will receive a three-day rest. It will run from Saturday June 11th to Monday June 13th. June 12, 2016 turned out to be Sunday and was rescheduled to the next day.

On these pleasant warm summer days, it will be great to be outside the city or in the country, breathe in the freshness of the night and listen to the singing of the nightingale. At night, when the air is filled with the aromas of flowering plants, you begin to understand the truth of the words about "how delightful evenings are in Russia."

November holidays

These autumn holidays are traditionally popular in our country, although their ideological significance has changed dramatically. The revolutionary theme disappeared, replaced by a more progressive and democratic National Unity Day. In November, we will be able to rest for three days in a row, from November 4 to November 6, from Friday to Sunday inclusive. These days we will all be able to gain strength before the upcoming winter by taking a walk in the fresh air and meeting with friends and relatives.

The production calendar of Russia for 2016 contains information on how many working days are in a year, how Russians relax, how many days the New Year holidays, May holidays last, as well as the transfer of weekends and non-working holidays. It provides working time norms for months, quarters, half-years and for the whole year with a 40-, 36- and 24-hour five-day working week.

* Pre-holiday days, on which the duration of work is reduced by one hour.

Every year, the days of the week on which the "red" days of the calendar fall change. And many people probably want to know in advance when free time will be available in the new year in order to plan trips and other events. For such cases, you can use the holiday calendar in 2016. How we relax, starting from the New Year, IQR calculated below. We will only mention “red” dates - on various professional holidays, Russians, alas, have to work. By the way, next year will be a leap year - 366 days instead of 365.

Holiday calendar 2016: when and what do we celebrate? Weekends and holidays

Below is official calendar of weekends and holidays, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 24, 2015 No. 1017 "On the postponement of days off in 2016".

New year 2016

The most important thing is the issue of the weekend for the new year 2016 - the first holiday celebrated by millions of people, one of the most fun and most anticipated. There is not much time left before it, so many have probably already begun to figure out their work schedule, wanting to pre-plan the New Year's celebration. This time the last day of the year - December 31 - falls on a Thursday. This will be a shortened working day.

Days from January 1 (Friday) to January 10 (Sunday) are marked in red in the calendar . Traditionally, the New Year's Eve is held with your family - so you can already notify your loved ones about which days of the week to celebrate this time. If you are going to take advantage of a long weekend to relax in a warm resort, it is better to take tickets in the fall, by December they traditionally become 2-3 times more expensive. If you decide to go on vacation at the last moment, last-minute tickets will be much more expensive (if you still get them).

Let's deal with further red dates and how we rest: the January holidays will continue next week - Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on the 7th, which falls on Thursday. Many enterprises arrange a break in their work - the New Year holidays, which end after Christmas. Ten-day holidays do not apply to all employees. Whether you will also rest on these dates depends on where exactly you work. For example, at facilities with continuous production, shifts cannot be canceled in any way. The same applies to doctors, and law enforcement officers, and representatives of many other professions.

February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day

The next public holiday will be February 23rd. In 2016, it will fall on a Tuesday. For convenience, they also made Monday (February 22) a day off, but in return they will have to work on Saturday, February 20. This working day will be shortened. Thus, in connection with the Defender of the Fatherland Day, we rest 3 days in a row - from 21 to 23 .

March 8 - International Women's Day

Shortly after Defender of the Fatherland Day, International Women's Day is also celebrated, which also falls on Tuesday. March 7 is also added to it (Monday, moved from the New Year holidays), thanks to which we get 4 days off at once - from Saturday (March 5) to Tuesday (March 8) .

May holidays 2016

The following significant dates will be the May holidays:

May 1 - Labor Day

May Day will fall on Sunday (by the way, Orthodox Easter will also be celebrated on the same day), and the weekend will be additionally on the 2nd and 3rd - Monday and Tuesday. Thus, rest 4 days - from April 30 to May 3 .

May 9 - Victory Day

May 9 falls on a Monday. We rest for 3 days - from May 7 to May 9 . By the way, those who work in an official job with a “white” salary have every right to write an application for a vacation from May 4 to May 6, using only 3 days of vacation from the prescribed 28 and getting a vacation for 10 days that can be spent at sea.

Other holidays

June 12 - Day of Russia

The most important event of June is the Day of Russia, which is celebrated on the 12th. In 2016, it will fall on a Sunday, so for “compensation” the 13th, Monday, will also be a day off. Rest - from 11 to 13 June .

Just in case, we will also mention the most important day in the life of every student - September 1. Despite the fact that this date is not “red”, and there is no day off on this day, those adults who have children of school age will certainly prepare for it. In 2016, Thursday will be Knowledge Day.

November 4 - National Unity Day

The penultimate holiday of the year is National Unity Day, which is celebrated on November 4th. In 2016, it falls very well on Friday, allowing rest 3 days in a row - from 4 to 6 November . In addition, Thursday - November 3 - will be made a shortened working day. The day of the Great October Revolution, beloved by the older generation, is a working day.

The holiday schedule for 2016 is completed by seeing off the outgoing year - we will celebrate them on the weekend: December 31 falls on Saturday.

You can start planning holidays in 2016 right now: how we relax, with whom we relax, where exactly. Just keep in mind that excessive alcoholic libations are far from the only and not the best way to celebrate another occasion, and that in the vast majority of cases a person gets into problem situations while intoxicated.

How many holidays will there be in 2016?

After we have compiled a holiday schedule, it will certainly be interesting to know: how many days off will there be in 2016 in total? We will take into account both “normal” weekends and the holidays mentioned above.

January: 31 days, of which 16 are days off (including the "New Year holidays");
February: 29 days, of which 9 are days off;
March
April
May: 31 days, of which 12 are days off;
June: 30 days, of which 9 are days off;
July: 31 days, of which 10 are days off;
August: 31 days, of which 8 are days off;
September: 30 days, of which 8 are days off;
October: 31 days, of which 10 are days off;
November: 30 days, of which 9 are days off;
December: 31 days, of which 9 are days off.

Now we summarize all the days of rest and calculate how many days off for the new year 2016 will be in total:

  • in the first half of the year: 182 days in total, 65 days off;
  • in the second half of the year: 184 days in total, 54 days off.

In total, next year we have to rest 119 days. We get 247 working days. Do not forget about the 28 days of vacation you are entitled to. If you manage and take them in parts, without intersecting with the weekend, you can not work as much as 147 days - 40% of the year! But this is just a good year - don't think Russians are lazy, says otherwise.

Holidays, dates, times and dates (video)

New Year holidays in 2016 will begin on January 1 (the first day of the year this time falls on Friday) and will continue until Sunday, January 10. The next day, January 11, the first official working week of the new year will begin in Russia - and schoolchildren will begin their studies (the end of school holidays in schools operating according to the traditional "quarter" system this year coincides with the end of rest for adults).

The January holidays in Russia are made up of public holidays dedicated to the celebration of the New Year and Christmas and ordinary days off, which are “added on” to the holidays. In accordance with Russian law holidays are the dates from 1 to 8 January. But January 9 and 10 are regular weekends, Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, for those who work on a six-day week, the New Year holidays may end earlier: the administration has the right to demand that they return to work on Saturday, January 9, or, in order not to “break” the working week, move the beginning of the working year to Sunday.

Weekend transfers to New Year's holidays in 2016

The duration of the January holidays in our country varies slightly every year - for example, in 2015 they lasted 11 days, in 2014 - only eight. How much on New Year's holidays depends on the schedule for transferring days off: according to the law, if a holiday falls on a weekend, then the day of rest is postponed. Sometimes such "extra" days are added to the winter holidays, sometimes they are transferred to other months.

This year, the holidays fell on two days off: Saturday 2 January and Sunday 3 January. Residents of the country will “walk away” in the spring: one of the additional days off will be moved to March 7, the second to May 3. Thus, both International Women's Day and Spring and Labor Day will be marked by four-day mini-vacations.

If we consider how we are on the New Year holidays by day, then the schedule will look like this:

  • January 1, Friday- holiday, New Year;

  • January 2, Saturday- a holiday, the day off from this day is postponed to May 3;

  • January 3, Sunday- a holiday, the day off from this day is postponed to March 7;

  • January 4, Monday

  • January 5, Tuesday- holiday non-working day;

  • January 6, Wednesday- holiday non-working day;

  • January 7, Thursday- holiday, Christmas;

  • January 8, Friday- holiday non-working day;

  • January 9, Saturday- a day off (excluding those working on a six-day week);

  • January 10, Sunday- day off.

Is December 31 a day off or a work day?

Despite the fact that at least 8 days are allotted for the celebration of the New Year in Russia, there are no additional days off to prepare for this solemn event. The question of making December 31 a day off has already been submitted to the State Duma for consideration - but this initiative was rejected.

Therefore, December 31, Thursday, will officially be a working day in 2015. It is considered pre-holiday, so the length of the working day on New Year's Eve should be reduced by an hour.
