Choose a dense weave fabric for the bedspread: it is easy to work with and it will reliably hide both the bed and the bed. When cutting, consider the direction of the pattern. 2. Cutting the side parts. Measure the height of the mattress (C), add 3 cm for seam allowances. Cut and fold the panels wide to get two AxC and two AxB side panels. Align the pattern along the seams.
3. Cut out the ruffles. Measure the width of the frill from the base of the bed to the desired level (D), add 3.5 cm for seam allowances and hem. Cut and join wide to make two 2AxD strips and two 2BxD strips. Align the pattern at the seams.

How to sew a bedspread
1. Connection of side parts. Sew the side parts into a ring so that the position of the seams coincides with the corners of the central panel.
2. Attaching a piping. Cut two piping the same length as the side pieces, adding 2.5 cm for seams and hem. Fold them right sides and bast the open cut of one edging to the middle panel, and the other to the bottom edge of the ring part. Cut the edge allowance at the corners so that it lays flat.
3. Hemming the frill. Tuck the hem twice 1 cm at the bottom and sides of each frill strip, cutting the corners at a 45° angle, iron. Attach the hem.
4. Dividing the frill into sections. Divide the long panels of the insert into three equal parts, and the short panels into two, mark the points on the edge of the piping with pins. Measure the frill and mark the same number of sections.
5. Gathering. Sew two parallel ruffle stitches 1.2 and 2 cm from the open ends of the frill, start and finish sewing at the marks.
6. Attaching frills. Fold the parts right sides, matching open cuts, pin the frill at the marks of the side parts. Pull the gathering stitches to fit the length of the frill, pin and baste the frill insert. Using the zipper foot, sew the frill close to the piping. Unravel the assembly seams.
7. Attaching side parts. Fold the pieces right sides, lining up the open edges and checking the position of the seams on the insert at the corners. Pin and baste the side pieces to the middle panel. Using the zipper foot, stitch the insert close to the piping. Seal the allowances with a zigzag.
Bedspread with frill
A classic bedspread with a long gathered ruffle covering the bed on three sides. You will need the same materials as for the bedspread with an insert.

1. Measurement and cutting. Measure the length (A) and width (B) of your bed. Add 3.5 cm to the length and 3 cm to the width for seams and hem. As described above, cut and stitch the panels to the width to make a rectangle of the desired size.
2. Cut out the ruffles. Measure the height of the frill (C) from the top of the bed to the floor, add 3.5 cm for allowances. Measure the length of the frill along the sides of the bed and the footboard, add 24 cm so that the frill goes over the headboard. Multiply the length by 2. Cut and connect the panels in width so that you get a strip of the desired size.
3. Hem panels. Double fold 1 cm and press the edge of the headboard of the middle panel, the bottom and sides of the frill, carefully trimming the corners at a 45° angle. Attach the hem.
4. Attaching the edging. Make a piping 24 cm longer than the sum of two side and one end sides of the middle panel. Align the open sections, bast the piping to the front side of the middle panel, capturing 12 cm from the corners on the short side at the head. Cut seam allowances at the corners.
5. Dividing the frill into sections. Measure the length of the frill, divide it into 8 equal parts, mark the sections with pins along the open cut. Measure and divide the edging edge of the middle panel into the same number of parts, mark them.
6. Trimming the frill. Gather the frill and sew it to the edging edge of the middle panel, as described above in paragraphs 5 and 6 (“How to sew a bedspread”). Close the seams with a zigzag stitch.

Cutting bedspreads
Measure the length, width and height of the bed. The upper part of the bedspread is a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the length of the bed + 3.5 cm for seams, and the width is 3 cm more than the width of the bed.
Cut out and cut rectangles of the size you need from thick and lining fabric, after cutting off the side edges.
If the width of the fabric is not enough, sew the bedspread in three parts, placing the full width in the middle and adding panels of equal width on both sides.

Sewing a bedspread with your own hands
Work all the edges of the frill with a zigzag or overlock. Fold the parts right sides and pin along the short sections with pins. Stitch and iron the seams.
Fold the wavy section 1.5 cm inside out and iron gently.
Attach the fringe border to the edge of the frill. Pin it with pins and carefully sew with two stitches in one direction. Fold up the side seams and stitch.
Sew two rows of gathering stitches along the top edge of the frill. To make it easier to work, break the top edge of the frill into sections 100 cm long. Lay the rectangle from the main fabric on a flat surface with the wrong side down. Lay the frill face down on it, aligning the edges of the frills with the top cut of the bedspread.
Align the corner sections with the bottom corners of the bedspread. Pin the frill to the bedspread in these places.
Pulling the threads in the gathering stitches of the frill, evenly distribute the gathering so that the frill lies on the bedspread.
Pin the frill to the bedspread and stitch it 12mm from the edge.
Lay the bedspread face up on a flat surface, fold the frill inward. Lay the lining inside out on the bedspread. Align the edges, pin them together with pins and stitch the lining to the bedspread on three sides.
Turn the cover inside out and iron. Wrap the top section inside and sew with a blind seam.
Pin the braid with pins around the perimeter of the bedspread. Carefully close the corners "with a mustache" (at an angle of 45 °).
