How to decoupage a photo frame on the side with paper. Decoupage pictures from postcards and napkins (step-by-step process). Glass photo frame decor

It covers more and more new areas of its application, and today we will tell you how to make decoupage photo frames.

This master class will be unusual, as photo frames will be used here, the necessary materials for which can also be bought in specialized stores.

So, let's start making out our frame for the photo.

You will need an ordinary wooden photo frame, on which we first apply the background using a regular sponge. Choose the background yourself, after which we dip our sponge into the selected colors and apply with precise movements on the surface of the frame.

After that, a thermal film is needed, on which an image in the form of an orchid is applied. We cut out all the flowers with scissors. For convenience, you can first cut out elements with allowances.

Then we cut out smaller flowers carefully along the contour.

From the cut flower blanks, we begin to form voluminous flowers, using a latex mat and a wooden bulb. These tools can be purchased at special decoupage stores.

Now let's transform our flat cut out elements into three-dimensional flowers. But everything is in order: the petal is heated over the candle and the wooden bulb is given a bulge on the latex rug.

After all the petals have become voluminous, the middle is squeezed out, while the whole flower is turned over to the back.

If the branch is cut out completely, then it can be made voluminous immediately, only at the same time you should pay attention to all its elements, without missing anything - everything should be voluminous.

To increase the volume of the composition on the branches, we glue more individual flowers using a temperature glue gun. Thus, all the necessary orchid branches are formed.

The branches themselves will be located in the corners of our frame. It is on these places that we glue the resulting volumetric branches with flowers. To do this, we also use a hot glue gun. After gluing the composition, single orchid flowers can still be glued to the gaps on the branches.

That's all, such a delicate and beautiful photo frame is ready.

It can take its rightful place among your other family photos, or it can be a great gift for relatives or friends.

The decoupage master classes presented in this article will allow you to learn how to create amazing and unique photo frames with your own hands.

Surely each of us has memorable frames that you planned to put in photo frames. Decoupage and a drop of your own imagination will help you create an original frame for family photos with your own hands.

The first master class will show you the decoupage process on the wooden surface of the photo frame. In order to repeat this lesson, you need to prepare:

You can make a frame with your own hands or use a ready-made blank.

The master class begins with covering the photo frame with acrylic-based paint or aerosol paint. If you are using wooden blanks for the frame, they must first be connected at an angle of forty-five degrees by gluing the ends.

At the next stage, in order to make decoupage, you need to take a napkin and cut or tear out suitable fragments from it.

Further, the first layer is separated from the motif, on which the drawing is applied. After that, the prepared elements are applied to the surface of the photo frame, and decoupage glue is applied on top of them. Make gentle movements with the brush, from the center of the picture to its borders. This will help you get rid of air bubbles underneath the image and smooth it out.

Yacht varnish will help you achieve the perfect fusion of the motif with the surface of the photo frame. It is applied in several layers on the surface with preliminary drying of each of them. Apply it in a uniform layer, moving the brush in one direction.

It remains only to add decor to the photo frame. Here you can apply any decorations of your choice and stick them with your own hands to the surface of the product. This master class uses rhinestones for these purposes.

How to decorate a glass frame with decoupage

And another master class will share with you the idea of decorating a photo frame with a glass surface using decoupage technique.

For decoupage, prepare:

  • glass frame for photo;
  • PVA glue;
  • eggshell;
  • a napkin with an interesting motive;
  • acrylic based paints;
  • finishing varnish.

The master class begins with degreasing the glass surface of the frame. To do this, use any product that has alcohol in its composition.

Further, PVA glue is applied over the selected areas, on top of which eggshells are fixed. Then, the plane lined with eggshell and the gaps among it are covered with white acrylic paint.

Now, take a napkin and cut out the elements you need from it. These drawings are glued to the photo frame using PVA glue, previously diluted with water in a ratio of one to one.

To make the product even more attractive, the presented master class suggests using a blue-tinted mother-of-pearl paint. In order for it to have a less pronounced color, it is diluted with water or a drying retarder. Next, with flicking movements, apply paint to the eggshell with decoupage, using a foam rubber sponge for this purpose.

Do you know that photo frames play an important role in the endless sea of accessories? After all, it not only frames the memories dear to the heart, but is also an attractive element of decor.
Decorate a lady's table in shabby chic style or add some romance to the bedroom, or maybe children can make a bright frame with funny images and figurines with their own hands?

Today, continuing to replenish the piggy bank with author's master classes, I have prepared a decoupage of photo frames for you. In it you will find a step-by-step described execution technique and perhaps execute your photo frame in a style that is closer to you and your interior. Here we go.

Materials and tools.

And here is what we need in our work:

  1. frame (preferably wooden)
  2. putty
  3. stencils
  4. primer Sonnet (black)
  5. acrylic lacquer
  6. white chalk paint (these are plaster-based paints)
  7. PVA glue
  8. napkins for decoupage
  9. bituminous varnish
  10. brushes, sponges, cloths.

Frame blanks can be bought at the ikea store. We are preparing it for decoration, for this we remove the glass, cardboard and put it aside so as not to get dirty.

Stencilling.

My idea is to create slightly worn patterns with black paint showing through the scuffs and delicate rose flowers in the corner. Let's see what happens, but for now we apply putty through the stencil. I use the Parade acrylic finishing putty (it is very finely grained and sands well), and if you don’t have one, you can replace it with any other company’s putty or use artistic texture paste.

I apply putty on one side and let it dry slightly so as not to spoil it when I apply it to the other side of the frame.

I have a stencil on an adhesive basis and it is very convenient to work with it. If everything is ready, let the patterns dry for an hour or more. After drying, lightly go over the sandpaper to remove small particles that are not fixed on the surface. Of course, they will all go away later anyway, but it is better to do this before painting with primer.

Primer.

We cover with black soil and dry.

After the primer, I applied acrylic lacquer, which may seem a bit strange to you, but without lacquer, when creating scuffs, the primer easily came off along with the paint that I washed off. If you have enough time, you can do without additional varnishing and let the primer dry well, but it is better to leave it overnight.

Chalk paint.

Now we are working with chalk paint. But I want to note that to create delicate scuffs, it is not necessary to use chalk paint. This effect can be achieved with art paints. You can read how to do this at this link.

I have this decorative white aging paint Shabby Provence from Borma Wachs.

I tint it a little by adding a drop of vanilla art paint. White color takes on a warmer, milky hue.

I apply it with a brush to the entire frame.

Let dry and use a damp cloth. We rub those areas on which there will be these very traces of time, i.e. abrasions.

I go through the ends, along the stencil patterns, and I got such a “sheby chic” frame, which has not yet been completed, but I already like it.

Decoupage

For decoupage, I chose these roses on a white background, which I printed on my printer.

If you do not have such a napkin with a white background, then you will need to cut the image from any other napkin clearly along the contour.

Glue it to the corner of the frame. Glue I use ordinary construction PVA from Lakra. So far, it has never let me down, the main thing is that the napkin does not turn yellow.

Using a soft brush, we begin to glue from the middle of the napkin.

If folds have formed, as happens with beginner decoupagers, do not be discouraged. When the napkin is completely dry on the surface, the folds can be sanded with #600-800 sandpaper.

I wanted to add a picture on this side. Let it be.

The picture seemed very bright and saturated to me, so I lightly painted the dried sanded napkin with transparent white paint.

The paint will become transparent if you add a little water to it.

Well, so the colors have become more muted and now we can fix our beauty with varnish.

I covered with Dulux celko acrylic matte varnish.

Patination

You can get dirty with bituminous varnish, as in this case. We collect bituminous varnish on a small piece of sponge, beat off the sponge on a sheet of paper so that there is quite a bit of varnish left. Otherwise, the varnish will lay down in a very rich brown color, and we only need to darken the frame slightly. We apply it as shown in the photo.

Bituminous varnish dries a little longer than acrylic, for about an hour it will still remain sticky.

If you overdid it, excess from the surface can be removed with white spirit.

brag

And voila, the frame is ready!

Another master class on antique frame decor very soon, stay tuned.

And these are shots of how we once worked with the girls at one of the events of the Bereginya needlework school.

What frames did you get? Good luck in your work, new ideas and inspiration! Thanks for stopping by, see you next time.

There is a technique called decoupage, which will allow you to decorate photo frames with your own hands and breathe new life into them. Such frames will take their rightful place in any corner of the interior. A master class with step-by-step photos will teach even beginner needlewomen how to make decoupage.

To complete this lesson, stock up:

  • wood blank for the frame;
  • acrylic paints;
  • decoupage napkins;
  • decoupage glue;
  • brush;
  • decoration and scissors.

Coat the wood surface with paint and leave to dry. Cut out the motif you like from napkins and detach the top tier. We recommend that you leave two layers of paper to preserve the brightness of the image.

Try on the picture to the frame to determine the location.

Glue it on. Attach the paper to the frame, dab the brush into the glue and brush the plane with gentle movements. The main thing is to smooth the surface and get rid of air bubbles.

Leave time to dry, and then apply decoupage varnish in several layers, taking breaks between them.

At the end of the lesson, decorate the photo frame with decorative material of your choice.

Master class for beginners

Using the decoupage technique, you can change the design of the frame to the desired style of any room.

A photo frame is suitable for work: plastic, wooden or metal. The process is the same. Prepare the surface by first removing all the details from it, and then sanding.

Cover the product with light paint with a sponge in several layers. Leave until completely dry. Use a hair dryer to speed up the process.
