Diagonal knitting. Diagonal knitting Pattern for knitting a diagonal pattern with knitting needles

Special thanks to Anastasia Berkova (Zhukovsky) for organizing the online "Vkontakte" and for the support and advice to my mother. I would be glad if you indicate me as the author of the master class when using it in your work.

It all started with the fact that I accidentally bought 1 package of Alize Bella Batik No. 3675. I wanted to crochet a diagonal top using one of the online, but considering that one package was not enough, I put off knitting until I came across "Aspen" on diagonal knitted top. (Link to work - http://club.osinka.ru/topic-147393?p=12767195#12767195). Its peculiarity is that it is connected according to the principle of a shawl from the right shoulder to the bottom of the left side without a single seam. Of course, I got burned. I confess that other works of Lilia, the author of the top, are no less memorable.

BUT I still didn’t figure out how the armhole fits, because the width of the shoulder is not equal to the length of the armhole, which in fact should be.
Then I acted differently, in my own way: I decided to knit from the bottom of the left side to the right shoulder.

I used circular needles #3.
The ideal version of my top is knitted according to the scheme in the photo.

RED ZONE:
1. 0-start knitting like a shawl.
2. We knit to the desired height. We close (number 1 in the photo). On the armhole we disconnect - the number 2.
We break the thread. We "transfer" the thread to the beginning of the row, namely, to the armhole.
GREEN ZONE:
3. We knit to the height of the armhole, we close the knitting in a circle (number 3).
WHITE ZONE:
4. We form the shoulder, knit to the desired shoulder width and divide the knitting to form the neck. (number 4)
PURPLE ZONE:
5. we knit to the right armhole, we divide the knitting on the side into the front and back sides. (number 5).
6. We knit each side separately to the point marked with the number 6.
YELLOW ZONE:
7. We combine knitting, we form a shoulder. the remaining 3-5 loops are pulled together into a ring.

My top starts from the bottom left corner. Since I had not yet knitted shawls at that time, I missed the ribbon. I took a primitive scheme, "diamond leaves" (I attach a photo of the scheme).

We knit according to the scheme to the desired width (I have 45 cm). The height is the same. And we will form an armhole.
We close the knitting on one side and disconnect it for the armhole in the middle of the resulting fabric, that is, along the axial. For the connection, I tied two edging together (right side). For the armhole from the axial, she tied two loops, which will become edge.

We continue to knit to the desired armhole height. On the right side we form the axial: 3 together, nakid, facial, nakid, 3 together. This is for the symmetry of the sides. Lily has axial only on one side, at the beginning of knitting.
We form a shoulder, combine knitting, knit in a circle. According to the principle that we used for the right side, we knit the axial. (3 together, yarn over, knit, yarn over, 3 together).

We divide the knitting from the shoulder along the axial into two parts to form the neck with a boat, the right one is knitted all the same to the armhole. We continue to close the loops at the beginning (yarn, 3 sts together) and at the end of the row (3 sts together, nakid.) We knit to the armhole, divide already along the right side along the axial into front and back. we knit each side separately until the upper part reaches the desired armhole height, we close. Knit shoulder - 3 sts together, yarn over, front, yarn over, 3 sts together - formed the center line, as on the left shoulder.
Gradually decrease the loops on the shoulder and along the right edge. loops are finished. the remaining minimum quantity (5 loops) is pulled together.

The rest was enough for a beret for my daughter. I took the scheme and description from the description

The number of loops is a multiple of 6 + 1 + 2 edge. Each row start and end with 1 edge.

1st row: * 1 facial, 1 yarn over, 2 p. Knit together with a slope to the left, 3 facial, from * repeat, finish 1 facial.

2nd and all even rows: purl.

3rd row: * knit 1, yarn over 1, knit 1, knit 2 sts together with tilt to the left, knit 2, from * repeat, finish knit 1.

5th row: * K1, yarn over 1, knit 2, knit 2 sts together with tilt to the left, knit 1, from * repeat, finish with knit 1.

7th row: * knit 1, yarn over 1, knit 3, knit 2 sts together with tilt to the left, from * repeat, finish knit 1.

9th row: * knit 4, knit 2 stitches together, knit 1, from * repeat, finish with knit 1.

11th row: * knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 1, yarn over 1, from * repeat, finish knit 1.

13th row: * knit 2, knit 2 together, knit 2, yarn over 1, from * repeat, finish knit 1.

15th row: * knit 1, knit 2 together, knit 3, yarn over 1, from * repeat, finish knit 1.

1-16th rows constantly repeat.

Attention!

Asymmetric details - a golf collar and a belt at the waist - are located one against the other, exactly in a mirror image. The impression is enhanced by the opposite direction of the patterns.

Greetings, my dears. Sometimes you want to somehow diversify your knitting creativity, and then you try to apply some not quite traditional techniques in your work. Although, how do you know what to consider traditional? Recently, such techniques in knitwear are more and more common. One of them is diagonal knitting, which any beginner knitter can easily master. About him today and will be discussed.

Knitting diagonally (oblique knitting, knitting from the corner - they are called differently), it turns out when the patterns are not knitted with knitting needles as usual, in a straight line, but evenly expanding and then narrowing the knitted fabric by adding and decreasing loops along the edges.

And, it turns out, kitchen potholders are also knitted this way (for the first time I learned that this is also knitted), and such things are very popular on Western sites:

Execution technology

Knit diagonally square

Let's look at how to knit it, using the example of, say, a garter stitch. But first, I'll lay out the basic principle. So, we start knitting with three loops (there are exceptions, but more on that below). Then, after one row, at the beginning and end of the row, first add 1 loop to expand the canvas, and then, when the sides have reached the desired size, also through the row, we already decrease 1 loop at the beginning and end of the row.

It's better to add with yarn over, and reduce by knitting on 2 loops together. You can make additions and subtractions immediately next to edge loops, or you can leave the edge wider (depending on what product you have).

And now in more detail.

Method number 1 (simple square without wide edges)

Cast on 3 loops.

1st row: facial loops;

2nd row: edging, nakid, 1 facial, nakid, edging.

Note: edging can be knitted, as for a chain-like edge (we remove the first one, the last one is purl), or you can knit in all rows only with the front ones. In the first case, you will get an almost openwork edge, which is easy to crochet later, and in the second case, a dense elastic edge.

3rd row and all odd rows: all the loops are facial, we knit the crochets crossed facial loops;

4th row: hem, nakid, 3 facial, nakid, edging;

When the sides reach the desired size, we begin in the same way, through a row, to reduce the loops.

We knit rows of decreasing loops like this: edge, knit 2 loops together with the front, knit with front loops until the last 3 loops remain on the left knitting needle. At the end of the row, 2 loops together front, edge.

We continue to knit decreasing loops until the number of loops between the hem is reduced to three. This, the penultimate row, we knit like this: edge, 3 loops together front, edge. Now there are only 3 loops left in the row - we close these loops, and knitting is finished! (you can also not close, but remove the first loop, knit the last 2 together with the front and stretch through the removed one; break the thread and stretch the tip of the thread into the formed loop, tighten).

Method number 2 (square with wider edges and openwork)

Cast on 4 loops.

Note: Here, the edging at the beginning and at the end of the row in all rows will be knitted only with facial loops! (they are already included in the description).

1st row: 4 facial;

2nd row: 2 facial, nakid, 2 facial;

3rd row and all odd rows: all loops are facial;

4th row: knit 2, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, knit 2;

So knit until the sides of the square increase to the size you need.

Subsequent even rows: K1, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, then knit with knit until the last 5 sts remain at the end of the row. At the end of the row, knit 2 together, yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1.

We continue to reduce the loops through the row until 9 loops remain. After that, we knit a row of decreasing loops as follows: 1 front, 2 loops together front, yarn over, 3 loops together front, yarn over, 2 together front, 1 front.

Next row: knit all sts (7 sts left on needle).

Next row: 1 front, 3 loops together front, 1 front (3 loops left).

Bind off last 3 sts.

Another option for knitting such a square is if the yarns are knitted with a crossed loop in the process of adding loops, then there will be no holes, but no less elegant edges will be obtained:

And then the edges can be crocheted (you can simply, or you can come up with something more interesting):

We knit a rectangle diagonally

In the form of a rectangle, a fabric is knitted diagonally for hats, scarves, skirts, shelves. Knitting a rectangle is somewhat more difficult than a square, but the principle remains the same. The difference is as follows: when a square is knitted, the loops are added and decreased symmetrically on both sides, and for a rectangle they do this:

  • Start knitting in the same way as for the square, and knit until the sides reach the size that the shorter side of the rectangle should be.
  • In the next row, on one side of the loop, we continue to add, as before, and on the other hand, we already reduce.
  • We continue to knit like this (we add loops on one side, and subtract them on the other) until we get the long side of the rectangle we need in length.
  • After that, we decrease the loops already on both sides, until 3 loops remain.

More clearly, the process can be seen in the diagram:

How to knit a rectangle from the corner.

What patterns are good for knitting diagonally

As you already understood, you can knit diagonally not only with a garter stitch (it’s just convenient because it is dense and looks the same on both sides).

For scarves, plaids, clothing details, you can also use larger patterns with pronounced horizontal or vertical stripes in the pattern, or even plain front stitch, but alternating multi-colored stripes.

A beautiful hat for mother and daughter knitted with a pattern of "false diagonal braids". This pattern will add the necessary volume to the head without weighing it down. The hat, despite all the intricacy of the pattern, is knitted quickly and simply.

Description of knitting cap:

Threads ALIZE sekerim BEBE 100gr/320 m., 100% acrylic, in 2 additions, I used knitting needles No. 4.5 for knitting elastic, No. 5.5 for the main fabric.

The number of reports on the cap is 6.

Patterns:

Rib 1x1 - 12 rows

Diagonal braid - rapport 14+3l. loops.

For size 56, dial 84 loops and knit 12-14 rows with an elastic band. Continue according to the pattern until it decreases. You can see how to do them in the video of knitting the same hat.

The scheme is designed for circular knitting. If desired, the yarn can be replaced with an air loop, then there will be no holes, and the pattern will look the same. The air loop is a crossed crochet, in the next round it must be knitted with the front one.

The dimensions of the finished knitted hat (unstretched) are in the diagram. The hat is perfect for size 52-56 cm.

To know how many loops to cast on, you need to knit a sample. You also need to take into account the report of the 2 * 2 elastic pattern (it is equal to 4 loops) and the report of the braid pattern (it is equal to 17 loops).

Cast on 84 loops on circular needles No. 4.5 and knit 16-18 rows with a 2 * 2 elastic pattern (2 front loops, 2 out loops).

Then move on to knitting the main fabric of the hat with a diagonal braid pattern. The report of the pattern is 17 loops, there are 84 loops on the needles. 84 is not completely divided by 17, one loop is not enough for knitting one repetition, so in the first row of the pattern you need to add a loop (start knitting the pattern from the wrong loops: knit the first loop from the wrong side, knit 2 wrong ones from the second loop). Next, knit according to the pattern.

In order for the braid to have a slope, the loops in the pattern must be knitted together with a slope to the left: we remove the first loop untied, we knit the second loop with the front one and stretch it through the first.

Braid pattern scheme:

To prevent a hole from forming when knitting the yarn, the yarn must be knitted behind the back wall of the loop. The loop will also slope to the left.

Having knitted three reports vertically (up) - this is 30 rows, I turn to knitting the crown.

Decrease scheme on the crown of a knitted hat

Remove the loops remaining after all the decreases on the thread, pull off and fasten the thread.

Snood with a false braid pattern:

Knit a snood and mitts with the same pattern as a set for a hat. To knit a snood according to a knitted pattern, cast on the required number of loops. pattern. Knit 40-50 rows in height, and then switch to elastic again. For thick threads, 4-5 pattern rapports are enough and 30-40 rows after elastic in height.

Mitts to the set

We will knit the thumb with an “Indian wedge”, a “false braid” pattern for mittens. You will need less than 100 g of yarn and suitable toe knitting needles, wool mixture yarn 250 m / 100 g, knitting needles No. 3.

We collect 35 loops on the toe knitting needles, close in a circle. There are 34 loops left. We distribute them on 4 knitting needles. We knit with an elastic band 1 person. 1 out. 12 rows.

Pattern scheme for the right mitt mitts:

Scheme of increments for the finger:

In the 8th row, we begin to knit a finger. On the needles: 1 knitting needle - 8 loops, 2 - 9 loops, 3 - 8 loops, 4 - 9 loops.

If the pattern was knitted on 1 and 2 knitting needles, then we knit the finger for the right hand on the 3rd knitting needle.

On the 3rd needle we make increases:

1 row of additions: 1 persons, N, 3 persons, N, 4 persons.

2 row of additions: all facial.

3 row of additions: 1 persons, N, 5 persons, N, 4 persons.

4 row of additions: all facial.

5 row of additions: 1 persons, N, 7 persons, N, 4 persons.

6 row of additions: all facial.

7 row of additions: 1 persons, N, 9 persons, N, 4 persons.

8 row of additions: all facial.
