Sock knitting with knitting needles. Openwork socks with knitting needles: patterns. Patterns for socks. Let's look at the step-by-step master class

Materials: 100% wool yarn, 170 m / 100 g Yarn consumption - 100 g Tools: stocking needles No. 3, stocking needles No. 2.5, knitting needle Knitting density of the front surface: 1.7 loops per cm Size: foot length 24 cm

Here we will look at the technique of knitting classic socks, when the socks are knitted on 5 knitting needles in the round, from top to bottom; This is the most common method due to its simplicity. In addition, these socks are comfortable to wear. We also bring to your attention video on knitting socks(at the end of this page)

Before starting knitting, measure the circumference of the leg at the widest point:

Knitting a sock - measuring the leg to calculate stitches

We got 23.5 cm. We determine the number of loops that need to be cast on: 23.5 x 1.7 = 40, where 23.5 cm is the girth of the leg, and 1.7 is the main knitting (facial stitch).

We cast on 40 loops on the knitting needles, dividing them equally into 4 knitting needles. We get 10 loops. We mentally assign numbers to the knitting needles to make it easier to explain the progress of the work. Closing the circle, we knit four loops of the 1st knitting needle together with the end of the yarn remaining on the 4th knitting needle from the set of loops, so that the circle closes tightly around the edge.

Knitting socks - a set of stitches

We knit the sock using classic knit and purl stitches, unless otherwise indicated in the description. Read more. If you use granny's loops when knitting in the round, the product may turn out to be twisted due to.

The sock is knitted with granny loops

Important: If the sock should be knitted in the round using classic stitches, then it is more convenient to knit the heel using grandma’s method. This makes knitting easier and faster and the heel is neater.

P We leave the buttonholes on two knitting needles temporarily inactive. Loops from 1 and 2 knitting needles (20 loops in total) are transferred to one knitting needle and knitted in stocking stitch 6 cm: the height of the heel is on average 1/4 of the length of the foot. The height of the heel can also be determined as follows: the number of edge loops of the fabric should be equal to the number of loops on one knitting needle minus one. Since one edge loop is formed in two rows, the height of the heel will be: (10 - 1) x 2 = 18 rows, this will be about 6 cm. We make sure that they are even and moderately tightened.

Note: for a large instep, you can knit the heel a couple of rows higher and (or) decrease the loops on the wedge of the foot not in each row, but every other row.

We finish knitting the heel height with the front 17th row, in the 18th, purl row, we begin decreasing stitches according to the shape of the heel. To do this, mentally divide the loops into 3 parts. Since 20 is not divisible by 3, we get 2 “extra” loops, add them to the side parts. We get: side parts of 7 loops, central part of 6 loops. If you have one loop left, add it to the central part. We continue to knit the loops of the central part, and gradually decrease the loops of the side parts, attaching them to the loops of the central part.

So, we knit the loops of the first and central parts. We knit the last loop of the central part together with the first loop of the third part of the grandmother's purl and turn the work over to the front side. Slip off the first stitch at the beginning of the row. On the front side we knit the last loop of the central part together with the first loop of the side part of the grandmother's front part. We turn the work inside out and remove the edge. In this way, we knit the loops of only the central part and decrease the loops from the side parts until they run out. Only the loops of the central part (6 loops) should remain on the knitting needle. The heel is ready.

Next, we knit the middle part of the sock until the loops on the toe decrease. Using the knitting needle on which the loops of the central part of the heel were located, we cast on loops along the front side of the sock from the edge loops - we pull out one loop from each edge loop, we get 9 loops. Then knit stitches on the next two needles. After this, using a free knitting needle, we pull one loop from the edge on the other side, we also get 9 loops. We distribute the loops of the central part of the heel equally between the 1st and 2nd knitting needles: 3 loops each. Thus, we get 12 loops on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles, and 10 loops on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles. If you have an odd number of loops in the central part of the heel, equalize the number of loops on the 1st and 2nd needles by attaching the “extra” loop to the 1st or 2nd needle.

Note: We knit 1 row before decreasing - this is suitable for a slight rise in the foot. If the rise is large, you can knit several rows.

Now the extra loops from the 1st and 2nd needles need to be reduced. We make decreases with the loops tilted towards the center of the foot: on the 1st needle, on the 2nd needle. As a result, there should be 10 loops left on each knitting needle.

Then we knit the sock in a circle to the end of the little finger (about 15 cm) and begin decreasing stitches on the toe. To do this, on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, at the beginning we knit the 1st loop, knit the 2nd and 3rd loops together with a knit stitch tilted to the left. On the 2nd and 4th knitting needles, knit the two penultimate stitches together with a slant to the right, then knit the last loop. We do this decrease every other circle until half the number of loops remains on each knitting needle (5), then we decrease in each circle. When there are 2 loops left on each knitting needle, tighten them and secure them. The sock is ready.

Knitting baby socks They do the same thing, only they take thinner yarn and knitting needles. We recommend: it is softer than pure wool and does not itch.

At knitting men's socks It is advisable to strengthen the heel and toe by adding a special one, it is called “Sock Additive”, this yarn is highly wear-resistant, the socks will not tear for a long time in problem areas.

Video on knitting socks

“Keep your head cool and your feet warm” is a favorite saying of all grandmothers. Nothing warms our feet in cold weather like warm knitted socks. Many novice needlewomen in terms of socks are intimidated by the number of knitting needles and are concerned about the question of how to knit the heel of a sock with knitting needles. Scary and there is little complexity here, we will start with simple diagrams, and all types will be accompanied by step-by-step instructions with photos, which will greatly simplify life for those who have never knitted anything more complicated.

You can knit anything - slippers, socks, footwear, hats. If you have patterns, you can even knit. You can knit with knitting needles, for men and even for children. The most the main thing is to know the secret. The thickness of the thread folded in half should not exceed the thickness of one knitting needle. This way the knitting will come out beautiful and neat.

Knitting socks on 2 knitting needles

Let's get started:

  1. Stock up on knitting threads and knitting needles.
  2. Count the number of loops. To do this, measure the circumference of the instep of the leg, add the circumference of the leg above the bone, divide the number by 2. Cast on loops on both knitting needles to this length. The total number of loops should be even, +2 edge loops.
  3. Knit a small fabric elastic band, length – about 6 cm.
  4. Now knit in stockinette stitch. You need another 8 cm of knitting.

  5. Now we will knit the heel. Divide the knitting into 4 parts. Using stockinette stitch, knit three pieces of knitting in one row. Turn the work, knit the two middle parts in one row. Turn the work again, knit one part completely side by side, and decrease the loop on the second. Turn the work again and knit the two middle parts 1 stitch less. This is how we knit the heel, decreasing a stitch in each row.

  6. When the number of loops is reduced by a third, We begin to add a loop in each row. And so on until all the original loops return to work.
  7. Now we knit in satin stitch over the entire width of the fabric. We make sure that the canvas from the heel reaches approximately to the middle of the big toe.

  8. Now let's knit a sock. It is also called a toe. Again we conditionally divide our loops into 4 parts.
  9. Decrease 3 and 2 loops from the end of the first and third conditional part of knitting in every 2 rows, knitting them together with facial loops. At the same time, we knit the same loops from the second and fourth conditional parts together with a broach.
  10. When half of the knitting needles remain, such We make decreases in each row.
  11. At the moment when you will have 6-8 loops left, pull them together with thread.
  12. Use the same thread to sew a sock. The seam will run along its top.

  13. If desired you can decorate the seam, or you can make it invisible.

Knitting men's socks for sizes 42-43

We've got some test socks, let's try to knit similar ones. Let's make men's socks for sizes 42-43, taking into account the peculiarities of how men wear them. We will knit a compacted elastic band, heel and toe to increase the wear resistance of the finished product.

  1. Stock up on fluff thread, a skein of mohair yarn, knitting needles and a large eye sewing needle.
  2. Let's start with the elastic. Add mohair to the main thread and cast on 70 loops.
  3. Tie an elastic band 15 cm high and remove the mohair thread - we will knit the heel.

  4. Knit the heel area about 4 cm high, without changing the number of loops.

  5. We divide the canvas into 3 zones: 18 side loops and 34 heel loops.
  6. We knit the heel part to a height of 8 cm with mohair thread, knit with an elastic band for strength.

  7. Now We divide the heel pad into three parts: 10+14+10 loops. We knit the middle with an elastic band, grabbing one loop from the side parts and knitting two front loops together.

  8. And now you need to pick up the 2 remaining zones into the canvas 18 loops each, 14 loops of our heel elastic and pick up 8 loops on each side between the outer and heel ones. There will be 66 stitches in a row.

  9. We knit 10 cm with the main thread, in each 6th front row we decrease 2 loops on each side.
  10. Add mohair thread– we will knit the toe area.

  11. We knit with decreasing stitches in every 2 rows. Once you have knitted 10 cm, gather all the remaining loops onto the thread.

  12. Now sew the sock along the top using a knitted seam. We make the second sock according to the same program.

Knitting socks on two needles without a seam

This method is not much more complicated than the previous ones. Let's get started:

  1. Prepare yarn and knitting needles.
  2. Take your leg measurement, calculate the loops, cast on half of them on the knitting needles.
  3. Knit as usual elastic band 14 rows.

  4. Knit the same amount in stockinette stitch.

  5. Decrease one stitch at a time on each side of knitting, knitting each row. Decrease until half the stitches remain.

  6. Now We begin to add 1 loop from each knitting edge until the needles have the original number of stitches. Here's your heel.

  7. Straight fabric knit 28 rows- this is our sole.

  8. Remember how the heel was made? Now we need to repeat the same operation, but now it will be called “toe”.

  9. Again we knit 28 rows with straight fabric, returning to the heel. One moment! When knitting, you need to knit the outer loops of the sole fabric. When you finish it, it will be full.

  10. Knit another 14 rows in stockinette stitch, knitting the back of the cuffs in the same way as the sole before.
  11. Exactly we also knit 14 rows of elastic, finishing the sock.

  12. Closing the loops tighten the thread, cut off the excess and hide the tail on the inside of the sock. That's all!

Knitting spiral socks for children

This is convenient because the socks are dimensionless, fit well on small feet and are suitable for growth. This is a simple and quick knitting technique, done in the round using circular knitting needles.

Prepare your knitting needles and yarn and you can begin:

  1. To make things easier for you, here is for spiral socks:

  2. Cast on the loops on the knitting needles, divide them equally into 4 knitting needles. The number of stitches cast on must be a multiple of 8.
  3. Knit 5 cm elastic band 2x2.

  4. Further We knit three rows of 4 knits and 4 purls loops in turn. In the 4th row we make an offset: we knit a purl stitch above the front stitch and vice versa. This is how a spiral is formed.

  5. . Just knit this way the entire length of the sock, approximately to the base of the big toe.

  6. . Decrease two knit stitches, and then decrease two purl stitches.

  7. . Tighten them on a thread, tie them, hide the tip. We do the second sock in exactly the same way.

  8. That's ready our socks!

After washing, these socks should be twisted into a spiral and left to dry. This way they won't stretch.

Knitting openwork socks

Such openwork socks will decorate any woman's foot. We calculated the loops for foot size 39. If you don't like ours, you can take any other one, the basic principle of knitting will not change. If you have yarn and knitting needles at hand, we can get to work:

  1. , distribute 14 on each of the 4 knitting needles.

  2. . 5 rows are enough.

  3. We knit from two needles stockinette stitch 20 rows.

  4. We divide the fabric into side (9 loops) and central (10 loops) parts. We will knit the heel.
  5. Knit on 10 loops, in each row we close the last loop together with the first side one.

  6. We turn the work without finishing 8 loops, we repeat such manipulations until the heel is closed and 10 loops remain on the knitting needle.
  7. We knit 1 row with stockinette stitch, cast on 11 stitches along the side edge of the heel.
  8. Using stockinette stitch in the round, we knit the remaining 28 stitches of the top of our sock.

  9. We knit 5 knit stitches to the middle of the heel. This way we equalize the number of loops on the knitting needles. When the number of loops is equal, we begin to count the circular rows.
  10. We knit the 11 loops cast on the sides with crossed knit, and the rest with regular knit.
  11. We make a row, knitting 14 loops, 15+16 loops- along with a tilt to the right, as in the photo. On the 4th needle we knit 1 and 2 loops together, tilting to the left. We knit the remaining 14 loops.
  12. We knit the next row in stockinette stitch without decreases.
  13. . Now the number of loops on all knitting needles is the same.

  14. The second and third knitting needles are the top of our sock. On these knitting needles we knit with a pattern, on the rest - with satin stitch. Here

  15. We knit this way until there is a fabric 15 cm from the side edge of the heel. Now we will close the eyelets of the toe.

  16. , and knit 14. On the second - 1 front, 2 and 3 are closed. On the third knitting needle we do everything as on the first, and on the fourth - as on the second, closing the toe in a circle.

  17. Thus, loops must be closed in every second row, until half the loops remain alive, that is, 7 pieces on each knitting needle. Now the loops will be closed in each row until there are only 8 loops left.

  18. , tighten the remaining loops, hide the tip of the thread.

  19. The elastic band of the sock can be tied using a hook next to the relief column. Then you can make a series of air loops - for beauty. This does not affect the functionality of the sock in any way.
  20. Basically ready All that's left is to cut the thread.

What are the benefits of knitted socks?

Knitted socks are good for wearing under shoes in the cold season - the foot does not freeze, the sock massages and warms the foot. They are also good in houses with cold floors; you don’t even have to wear slippers. Knitting socks is quite simple. This work will be an excellent gift for yourself and your husband; warm socks and children will be delighted.

Do you love warmth as much as we love it? Then it’s time to learn how to knit socks and quickly put this knowledge into practice! At least you have 3 reasons to learn how to knit socks with your own hands.

  1. Things made by hand are much more beautiful, warmer, and more pleasant to wear.
  2. Hand-knitted socks will cost you much less than a finished product, because you only have to spend money on yarn.
  3. Knitting calms and brings peace.

Have we convinced you that hand-knitted socks are cool? Then let's get down to business quickly.

Oddly enough, the easiest way to knit socks is to use 5 knitting needles. However, do not be intimidated by so many tools: we will cast on loops on 4 knitting needles, and the fifth knitting needle will be the working one. Next, we will tell you how to knit socks for beginners on 5 knitting needles step by step and demonstrate simple master class.

  1. The first thing we need to do is measure the leg in order to cast on the required number of loops. We will take measurements in two planes:

The average leg circumference is determined as follows: we find the sum of the two above-determined measurements (instep circumference and leg circumference) and divide the resulting number by 2. For example, our first measurement will be 31 cm, and the second will be 21. Then we sum these two numbers and divide the sum by 2. The result is 26 cm. We recommend rounding the resulting number of centimeters by a multiple of 4. After all, it is for this length that we will cast on the required number of loops and distribute them onto 4 knitting needles.

  1. We cast on loops in the quantity we have determined.
  2. Divide the stitches evenly between 4 knitting needles and knit an elastic band. This will be the top of the sock, and we will move towards the toe of our product, using circular knitting. This knitting method is suitable for both adults and children's socks. The socks are tight and neat, they fit well on the feet.
  3. The standard length of the upper elastic band of a sock is on average 5-6 cm.
  4. After the elastic band, you need to knit 7-8 cm with facial loops, up to the heel. Knitting the heel will take place using two loops, i.e. using half the loops of the number that we cast.
  5. Using two knitting needles reserved for knitting the heel, we knit with 5.5-6 cm facial loops, which will be the height of the heel. This figure is unchanged for those with foot size 35 or larger.
  6. The next step will be to give our heel the required shape. To do this, we make a heel drop, dividing the loops into 3 equal parts. We send the extra loops to the central part, and gradually knit the loops located on the sides together with the central loops. Thus, we form the sides of the heel. You can see more detailed instructions for knitting heels in the article below.
  7. We lower the loops from the wrong side and finish lowering from the front. We knit 2/3 of the loops with purl loops.
  8. We knit 2 loops together: among them there will be the last loop of the central part and the first loop of our third part. It is these loops that we purl together.
  9. We turn the work and knit the front side of the heel, removing the first loop. We will not knit it. Subsequent knitting is carried out with facial loops, and at the very end we knit together the last loop of the central part and the first loop of the first part. This method is called broaching, when the first loop is removed, the second is knitted, and the removed loop is transferred to the knitted one.
  10. Turn the work again and remove the first loop without knitting.
  11. We continue to knit according to the previous scenario, with facial loops. We knit until all the side loops are closed.
  12. We cast on the loops from the side of the heel onto a knitting needle so that from each second row we cast on one loop and one additionally, that is, 3 loops from two rows.
  13. We return to circular knitting, using loops from those knitting needles that we have not yet used. We also work on the loops from the sides of the heel and the loops in the central area of the heel. We make one row in knit stitch.
  14. In order for the sock to fit better to the heel, we knit every second circular row like this: the third and second loop from the end are knitted together from the end of the first knitting needle with a knit stitch, as well as the second and third loops of the fourth knitting needle are knitted together with a broach.
  15. We decrease the loops until we get the number of originally cast on loops.
  16. We move on to knitting the foot (knitting in the round). We tie it to the end of the little finger or to the bone of the thumb.
  17. Knitting the toe of a sock. Decrease stitches according to the following pattern: in every second row we knit the third and second loops from the edge of the odd numbered knitting needles with knit stitches (together). Similarly, we knit the second and third loops of even-numbered needles with a broach.
  18. After the number of loops reaches half, decreases begin in each circular row until there are only 4 loops on the knitting needles.
  19. We tighten the loops with thread and fasten.

Like this a fairly quick and easy way to knit socks we showed you. For clarity, the creators of the master class used multi-colored yarn, so it turned out to be a pretty fun option. You can use any color of thread or try making socks with patterns. Next we will show you beautiful sock knitting patterns.

We already told you a little about heel knitting in the previous section. I would like to dwell in more detail on how to knit a heel near a toe with knitting needles: you will find a detailed description in the photo with professional explanations and knitting patterns.

What yarn is best to knit socks from?

Many beginning knitters, when starting to knit, often wonder what yarn is best to knit socks from? After all, you want this item of clothing to be worn for a long time, and to feel comfortable and warm in it.

  1. Wool socks. Very warm, but wear out quickly on the heel.
  2. Wool-blend socks. Practical and soft.
  3. Yarn socks adding down, angora, synthetic fibers. Such mixtures greatly strengthen the thread and make the product wear-resistant, warm and durable.
  4. Socks made from "Village" yarn with the addition of synthetic threads on the heel and toe.

How to knit socks for beginners: step-by-step video with explanations

We have already told you a lot about socks, all that remains is to show you how to knit socks for beginners: a step-by-step video will demonstrate everything in great detail. We wish you success!

Men's socks, size 27. You can clearly see where the 100 g skein of yarn ended. A detailed description of the knitting process is in the same article below.

I will tell you how to knit socks on 5 knitting needles with a straight heel, horseshoe heel, round heel and boomerang heel in detail.

To knit children's socks you will need 1 skein of bright yarn, preferably acrylic or baby yarn. These are knitted with ANGORA RAM (100 g = 500 m) in 2 threads. I knit socks for adults from 100% wool (133-170 m per 100 g). For women's socks, 100 grams is enough, for men's socks it takes more (we take 2 skeins of 100 grams, see photo above). The thinner the knitting needles and the tighter you knit, the tighter the socks. Now I knit with needles No. 2.5.

How to knit socks with simple knitting needles.

To knit children's socks, we cast on 32 loops, women's socks - 40 loops, men's socks - 48 loops (the number of loops for woolen village (homemade) yarn or purchased yarn with a yardage of 130-170 m per 100 g). If the yarn is thinner, then there will be a different number of loops (more).

Distribute the stitches evenly across 4 needles. Thus, on each knitting needle it turned out: children's socks - 8 loops, women's socks - 10 loops, men's socks - 12 loops. We close the knitting in a circle. We knit with an elastic band 2*2 or 1*1, I like 2*2 better. We determine the length of the elastic arbitrarily: some people like low socks to wear in their boots, others long ones, almost to the knees (then you need more yarn). I knit both socks at once, on 10 knitting needles. I knitted an elastic band for one sock, I switched to other knitting needles and knitted exactly the same elastic band for the second.
I will tell you how to knit baby socks. The child is 2 years old. I cast on 33 loops and closed them into a circle. 32 loops left. There are 8 loops on each knitting needle. I knitted 27 rows with an elastic band 2*2. Now we knit in stockinette stitch so that the socks fit well on the leg, 5 rows. (For adults, knit 8-10 rows).

How to knit a heel on a toe with knitting needles, straight heel

We will knit the heel from half the stitches, on two knitting needles. We don't touch the rest for now. We knit the front loops in one direction, unfold the work, knit the purl loops. Don’t forget about the edge loops (we remove the first one, we knit the last one using the classic purl stitches, you can also use knit stitches, the main thing is the same ones to get a beautiful, even edge)! Using stockinette stitch we knit 10 rows for children's socks (for women's socks - 14-16 rows, for men's - 16-20 rows. If the instep of the leg is high, then 2-4 rows more). We divide these loops into 3 parts. For children's socks we knitted 16 heel loops, distributing them like this: 5+6 sole loops+5. (For women's 7+6+7=20, for men's 8+8+8=24.)

We continue to knit the heel. In the front row we make the first decreases. 4 knit, 2 knit together behind the front wall, 4 knit, 2 knit together behind the back wall. We turn the work around. We slip 1 loop onto the left needle, tighten the thread so that there are no holes. Purl 4, purl 2 together.

We turn the work around. Re-slip 1 loop, tighten the thread, knit 4, knit 2 together.

We turn the work around. We knit this way until there are 6 loops left on two knitting needles. (For men's socks there are 8 loops).

If you knit like me, on 10 needles, then it’s time to move on to another sock and knit exactly the same heel.

How to knit socks on 5 knitting needles. Continuation

We cast on loops from the heel edges. Ideally, you should get the same number of loops as you decreased. If there are more loops, this can be fixed. In the next rows, we will decrease one loop per row on each side until the required number of loops is obtained. If the leg instep is high, then be sure to cast on more loops. The loops can be cast on both knit and purl. It will turn out beautiful in any case, I will show you in the photo.

purl stitches were cast on from the heel edges of the sock

On the knitting needles now: 6 heel loops, cast on 5 loops along one edge of the heel, 16 loops, cast on 5 loops along the second edge of the heel. Now we knit 38 rows. If you need it longer, knit more rows. We will decrease evenly on 4 knitting needles, so that it makes no difference whether the sock is right or left. In each row on each knitting needle we knit the last 2 stitches together. So we knit until the end. We fasten the thread and hide it on the wrong side. Socks are ready!

When I knit socks for an adult, so as not to count many rows, I make a pattern in the middle.

Knitting pattern for socks

From 3 knit stitches we knit 3 knit stitches (“stars”):

We knit 3 knit stitches together, do not throw off the loop from the left knitting needle, yarn over and knit knits from it again. Now slip a loop off the left needle. Repeat the pattern after a few front rows. I do it every 5 rows, in the sixth, or every 4 rows in the fifth. There is no difference, the main thing is the same number of rows between the “stars”.

These socks were closed in a different way: on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles I decreased the last loops, and on the 2nd and 4th knitting needles - the first loops. It's called a tape toe.

Here is another option for using this pattern.

The socks are knitted from leftover yarn. Here, instead of an elastic band, I knitted “stars” in a checkerboard pattern.

How to knit socks with knitting needles in a beautiful pattern.

Nice socks?! Very simple pattern. Cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 4. We knit with an elastic band * knit 2, purl 2 * the required length (there are 15 rows here).

Let's start knitting the pattern. It consists of 5 rows.

1 row. *Knit 1 stitch as a knit stitch, knit 3*

2nd row. Face loops

3rd row. *Knit 1 stitch as a knit stitch, knit 3*

4 row. Facial

5 row. *1 knit stitch, 3 purl loops*

Again, knit the required length of the sock to the heel. How to knit such a sock heel is described above. The heel in the photo is straight, if desired, you can knit both a round one and a boomerang.

When the heel is knitted, we continue to knit the sock on 2 knitting needles according to the pattern, on the sole - in stockinette stitch.

We knit the toe of the sock using stockinette stitch. Close on both sides. The toe turned out to be ribbon.

Children's socks with oblique elastic.

Oblique elastic pattern

Since the rapport is 6 loops, I cast on 36 loops on two knitting needles with a double thread. First, 3 rows of elastic *knit 2, purl 2*. Then 12 rows with bias rib, 8 rows with rib *knit 2, purl 2*, 5 rows of garter stitch and knit the heel. Everything as usual. When I started the socks, I left 2 loops between decreases: one at the end of the knitting needle, the second at the beginning.

Beautiful socks, author Natalya Levina

I knit children's from 40 loops, 10 per knitting needle. For this knitting, you need to take thicker needles, not ordinary, thin ones.
I would like to note that these openwork socks are knitted much faster than usual. The heel is very strong, no additional thread is needed.
I knit socks for adults using a pattern of 48 stitches (12 per knitting needle). The heel is knitted the same way.

HOW TO KNIT SOCKS ON 2 SPOKES.

Men's or women's socks for wide feet. Wool socks. You will need wool yarn, approximately 100 g. If you plan to knit a tall elastic band, then more.

Cast on 49 stitches on needles No. 3. Knit 30 rows with knit 1 rib. on 1 purl. Mark the 25th loop (central) with a colored thread or marker.
In each front row, knit 5 loops from it (front, yarn over, front, yarn over, front). Knit purl rows according to the pattern. When there are 97 loops on the knitting needle (size 37), knit 6 rows in garter stitch, i.e. all knit stitches. Run the sole on 13 loops (like a heel). Sew at the back.
Comment: Without finishing 6 stitches on the knitting needles, decrease the middle 3 stitches of the sole in each knitting pattern. row until one loop remains from the sole, and then do not sew with a needle, but connect with knitting needles, like a shawl border.
At the same time we make a decrease on the sides.

How to knit the heel of a sock with knitting needles.

I’m still bragging about my socks! YarnArt EVEREST yarn (200 g / 320 m, 70% acrylic, 30% wool) these socks came from one skein and I really liked the yarn: it does not fade, holds its shape, is warm, it is pleasant to knit from it. But! I couldn’t choose the color so that the socks would be the same, although I honestly tried.

A beautiful heel, knitted like a boomerang heel. These socks are knitted from NAKO Tweed yarn 100 g = 260 m. 32 loops, knitting needles No. 2.5, child age 3 years.
How to knit the heel of a sock on knitting needles step by step. Heel boomerang.

First, divide the number of loops in half. We will knit on two of the 4 needles. Let me first explain how we will knit. It's simple, the main thing is to understand the meaning. We divide the number of loops into 3 parts, the middle part will always be knitted with stockinette stitch, and the two outermost ones at the top of the heel will be knitted in short rows, adding yarn overs, and, on the contrary, adding loops at the bottom of the heel.

How to knit socks for children. The easy way.

For knitting you will need:

Yarn - any non-prickly yarn, preferably merino, 300 m / 100 grams. Only 50 grams.

Set of double needles number 3.

On one knitting needle No. 3 we cast on 44 loops

We knit with an elastic band * 1 knit, 1 purl * in a circle for 18 rows. Next we knit 4 rows in garter stitch.

Knit the heel of the sock.

To do this, we can knit loops with 3 and 4 needles on one needle in stockinette stitch in straight and reverse rows. In this case, the first (edge) loop is re-knitted without knitting, and the last one is knitted purl in a classic manner. So we knit 12 rows of 22 loops.

Next, we divide these 22 loops into 3 parts: 7, 8, 7. We knit only the central 8 loops like this: we knit 7 +7, and the 8th loop, together with the first loop of the third part of the front one, behind the back wall of the loops. We unfold the knitting, remove the first loop without knitting. We knit 6 loops, and we knit the last loop of the second part together with the first loop of the third part of the purl. We repeat the rows until the central 8 loops remain. The heel is tied.

We knit the central 8 loops in the front row with knit stitches, cast on 10 loops from the edge loops like this: we knit two loops with the front one, add a third from the hole between the loops and also knit the front one. We knit 22 loops (this is the top of the sock), and again we cast on 10 loops from the edge loops.

Raising the foot. Every row you need to decrease 3 loops from the sides. In the place indicated by the arrow, we decrease the outer loop from the knitting needles on which the heel was knitted. When positioned as in the photo, we knit the first loop of the front part with the last loop of the knitting needle on which the heel was knitted, together with the front one behind the front wall.

On the second side of the sock we decrease in the same way, but by knitting two loops together behind the back wall. We knit to the end of the row.

We knit the next row with knit stitches without decreases. Such decreases will need to be repeated 2 more times. There should be 11 loops on each knitting needle. (Same as at the very beginning.) Knit in the round for 20 rows.

How to knit the toe of a sock with knitting needles.

We make decreases in each row of 2 loops along the sides. (At the beginning of the 1st needle, knit 2 together behind the front wall, at the end of the 2nd knitting needle, knit 2 together behind the back wall. At the same time, we make the same decreases on the other side. At the beginning of the 3rd and at the end of the 4th knitting needles, until There will be 4 loops left.Tighten the remaining loops by threading the thread through them using a hook.

Cut the thread, hide the ends on the wrong side. We wash our socks.

Beautiful socks with a semicircular heel (another way of knitting the heel, the so-called horseshoe heel).

Men's socks, foot size 43.

Yarn “Winter Comfort” 100 g = 220 m, 2 skeins, sock knitting needles No. 2.5.

I knitted 11 rows with an elastic band *knit 2, purl 2*.

Then 3 rows in garter stitch: 1 row with purl stitches, 2nd row with knit stitches, 3rd row with purl stitches again. To prevent a step from forming when moving from the purl row to the front row, we knit the last loop in the row of purl loops together with the broach raised after it.

3 rows in garter stitch.

11 rows according to pattern 1.

And repeat 3 rows in garter stitch, 5 rows in stockinette stitch, 3 rows in garter stitch.

Let's move on to the heel. We take loops on 1 and 4 knitting needles.

The toe on the left shows the front side of the heel, the toe on the right shows the reinforced heel from the inside.

It turns out that the heel can be: firstly, compacted, and secondly, tied in another way. Almost straight heel, only the line of the sole will not be clearly visible.

The heel seal is a good idea. We will compact it with a pattern:

Knit rows: all stitches are knit.

Purl rows: purl 1, remove 1 without knitting.

We knit the edge loops more tightly so that holes do not form when we later lift the loops from them.

Convex tracks are obtained on the front side (see photo above). Knit to the desired length. I need a high rise, I knitted 24 rows. The last row is the front row.

How to knit a heel on a toe with knitting needles. Step by step.

A horseshoe heel is knitted almost the same as a straight heel. Only in the straight heel, after we have tied two together, do we immediately turn the work, but here you need to knit another loop and then turn the work. You need to start from the middle of the heel, leaving the central 2-4 loops single.

If it's not clear, watch the video.

Now we will knit the pattern on the 2nd and 3rd needles, and on the 1st and 4th needles the heel in stockinette stitch. When we cast on loops from edge loops, we insert the knitting needle under both walls of the edge loop. We dial it tight. If the loops are raised freely, you can knit the first row crossed.

I got 14 loops on each side. Ideally, there should be the same number of loops on the knitting needles as you cast on, i.e. 48. We will use a wedge to decrease the extra loops. On 1 knitting needle we knit the penultimate 2 stitches together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 4th knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. We make decreases through the row.

We make the drawing on the upper part of the sock according to the diagram

To make the pattern symmetrical, add one broach loop in the middle. It turned out on knitting needles 2 and 3 in total 25 loops.

We alternate the pattern according to the pattern with 3 rows of garter stitch and 5 rows of stockinette stitch. So we knit the desired length, approximately to the little finger. Before the toe, it is recommended to shorten the stocking stitch by two loops on both sides to make it more comfortable in shoes. That is, in a row of purl stitches, knit the first 2 and last 2 stitches. You can switch to knitting needles that are a little thinner. I knitted the entire sock with one knitting needle.

Toe.

We decrease the loops on both sides: on 1 knitting needle we knit the 2 penultimate loops together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 4th knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. Also on the 3rd knitting needle we knit the penultimate 2 stitches together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 2nd knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. In each row until the loops run out. Cut the thread and hide it inside the sock. Wash socks.

How to knit socks with round heels.

A round heel is knitted on socks so as not to bandage the entire sock, but only a small part of it, if only the heel is leaky. For those who usually only have their heels rubbed.

Description.

We put the required number of loops on the knitting needles and knit an elastic band. Then we knit several rows in stockinette stitch. For now we knit, as always. All stitches are distributed evenly on 4 needles. What do we do next?

Next we take a waste thread, it will take about 30 cm. We knit 1 row with this waste thread on only 2 knitting needles. It turns out that we only knitted half a row. (In the photo this is a pink thread and it is only on one side. The second side is all blue.) We return to the place where the thread goes from the ball, pull the main thread tighter so that in the future a hole does not form in this place, and continue knitting the sock on the required length. When we have started the toe and secured the thread, we move on to knitting the heel.

How to knit a round heel.

Raise loops on both sides of the waste thread.

Unravel the pink thread. We don't need her anymore. We distribute all the loops onto 3 knitting needles (there are exactly as many of them now as there were). Why 3 spokes? This way we will be more comfortable. We will make roundings in 6 places, 2 on each knitting needle. We attach the thread from the ball. We will knit 5-6 rows in stockinette stitch. If you see that there will still be a hole, pick up one loop from the broach. In the next row, knit it with a knit stitch and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together.

I knitted these socks for a child. In total I cast on 36 loops. For the heel I left 18 loops. On both sides, when I unraveled the pink thread, I picked up 1 loop, making 38 loops. In the next row I decreased these 2 stitches. There are 9 loops on each needle. I knitted 5 rows in stockinette stitch in the round. I made decreases through the row.

1 row. On each needle together the first 1+2 loops and 5+6.

2nd row. There are 7 knit needles on each needle.

3rd row. On each needle together the first 1+2 loops and 4+5.

4 row. There are 5 knit stitches on each needle.

5 row. On each knitting needle there are 1+2 and 3+4 together.

6th row. There are 3 knit stitches on each needle.

7th row. Each needle has 1 knit, 2 together.

Pull off the remaining 6 loops. Cut the thread. Hide the tip inside the sock. Pin.
