Hello dear friends!

to this wonderful openwork jacket , related knitting needles, I laid eyes for a very long time, about 7 years ago for sure. Recently I saw it again in a magazine "Knitted clothes for respectable ladies" and realized: his time has come!

Long openwork jacket with knitting needles

The description of this openwork jacket is given for 5 sizes: XS-S-M-L-XL, that is, 40-42-(46-48)-(50-52) Russian.

  • Finished Waist: 88-94-101-107-114 cm;
  • finished product length: 68-70-72-73-74 cm;
  • finished sleeve length: 46-47-48-48-49 cm.

Recommended yarn: Sandnes mandarin petit (100% cotton, 180 m\50 g) - 500-550-550-600-650 g beige; knitting needles straight and circular No. 2, 5 and No. 3, and you also need to prepare 4 buttons.

KNITTING DENSITY on knitting needles No. 3:

  • according to scheme A and E 28 loops - 10 cm;
  • according to scheme B and C 25 loops - 10 cm.

Speaking of yarn. Turkish BELA by ALIZE(you can look at the link) is ideal as a replacement: it is also 100% cotton, the thread is very soft and the footage is exactly the same, so I advise! 😉

Knitting front and back

Front and back knitted openwork jacket we start knitting at the same time by dialing 439-475-511-535-571 loop on circular knitting needles No. 3 (knitting is not circular).

IN 1st (front) row after the hem we knit: * 3 purl, 1 facial, 3 purl, 5 facial loops * (from * to * repeat to the end of the row), at the end of the row after that we knit 3 purl, 1 person., 3 purl loops and edge.

Row 2: Knit over knit, purl over purl sts.

So first we repeat 1st and 2nd rows to the desired border height, most likely it is 8 cm as indicated in the description of knitting sleeves.

And having already knitted 8 cm, we continue to knit the pattern according to the “A” pattern until the length of the work is 41-42-42-43-43 cm.

Scheme "A"

Symbols for schemes "A", "B", "C", "D", "E"

Having knitted the wrong side last, we no longer knit according to the scheme "A", 295-319-343-359-383 loops remain on the needles, then we knit a narrow strip with a garter stitch:

  • after the hem we knit: * 2 front, 2 loops together front * - the whole row;
  • knit the next purl row with facial loops;
  • dec sts evenly on next RS row so that 221-237-253-269-285 sts remain on needle;
  • 3 more rows knit facial loops.

We place markers (marks) to separate the shelves from the back and knit each part according to its own scheme: 55-59-63-67-71 loop (shelf), marker, 111-119-127-135-143 loops (back), marker , 55-59-63-67-71 loop (shelf).

Now we knit the loops of the shelves according to the scheme "B", the loops of the back - according to the scheme "C", the loops of the shelves according to the scheme "B", but in a mirror image.

Scheme "B" and scheme "C"

At a height of 6-6-7-7-7 cm from the beginning of the rows of garter stitch, we divide the work by markers and begin to knit each of the 3 parts (shelf-back-shelf) separately.

Left shelf

We continue to knit the pattern according to the scheme "B". From the side where the armhole will be, in each 2nd row we close:

  • 4-3-2-1-1 sts (for size XS),
  • 4-3-2-1-1-1 sts (for size S),
  • 4-3-2-2-1-1 loop (for size M),
  • 4-3-2-2-1-1-1 sts (for size L),
  • 4-3-2-2-2-1-1 sts (for size XL),

44-47-50-53-56 sts on needles.

Having reached the length of the armhole 15-16-16-16, 5-17 cm, for the neckline, close in each 2nd row 13-3-2-2 loops (for all sizes), and then 1 loop 4-5-6 -7-8 times, depending on the size.

20-22-24-26-28 sts remain on needle. When armhole measures 20-21-22-23-23 cm, leave these sts open.

The right shelf is knitted in a mirror image.

About the back in the description is silent, like: "Guess it yourself." Therefore, I propose to close the armholes from the back in the same way as described above.

As for the neckline of the back, then you can either not do it at all, or you can do it, but not as deep as in front. You decide.

Knitting a sleeve of an openwork jacket with knitting needles

On needles No. 3 we collect 85-87-89-91-91 loop and knit according to the scheme "D" 8 cm.

Scheme "D"

After that, we continue to knit the pattern according to the "E" pattern.

Scheme "E"

After the 3rd row on the needle should be 57-59-61-63-63 loops.

To expand the sleeve on both sides, every 1.5 cm we add 1 loop (after the edge at the beginning of the row and before the edge at the end of the row) until there are 99-101-103-105-107 loops on the needles. We include these loops in the pattern.

Having knitted 46-47-48-48-49 cm, close the sleeves on both sides (for all sizes) in each 2nd row 4-3-2-2-1-1-1 loop, then 3 times 1 loop in every 4th row, and in every 2nd row in size:

  • XS - 1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3-4-4 loops,
  • S - 1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-3-4-5 loops,
  • M - 1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-4-4-5 loops,
  • L - 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-4-4-5 loops,
  • XL - 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-4-5-5 loops.

We close the remaining loops.

Assembly

We carry out shoulder seams. On the edge of the neck with knitting needles No. 2, 5, we collect about 13 loops for every 5 cm. We knit 6 rows of garter stitch, close the loops.

We tie the shelves in the same way, only on the right shelf we knit 4 holes for buttons: we close 2 loops and in the next row we collect 2 new loops in place of the closed loops.

We carry out seams on sleeves, we sew sleeves. Sew on buttons.

I think such openwork jacket performed knitting needles, diversifies and decorates the wardrobe of any woman!
