1. ADVANTAGE OF KNITTED CARDIGANS. HOW TO CHOOSE AND WITH WHAT TO WEAR THE MODEL SUITABLE FOR YOU

The cardigan is back in fashion and many women are happy to complement their wardrobe with new models of these knitwear. Classically, the cardigan looks like an elegant, soft, loose-fitting jacket without a collar or an elongated jacket with a V-neck, which fastens with snaps or buttons, and is also complemented by side pockets.

Some women prefer not to buy new models of outerwear, but knit fashionable things with their own hands according to patterns with a detailed description of all stages of work. We have already published several articles with video tutorials, master classes, diagrams and instructions, with the help of which our visitors have already knitted wonderful cardigans, jackets, blouses and vests with knitting or crocheting. On our site you can also find patterns and knitting lessons for different models of outerwear for overweight women, interesting options for cardigans and large tunics.

What cardigan model would you like to knit? Useful tips from stylists to help you choose the right option for the upcoming season.

How to wear a knitted cardigan:

Winter, late autumn. An elongated women's cardigan made of thick knitted wool will look perfect in tandem with a turtleneck or with a jumper. Bottom: tight knitted trousers, skinny leggings or thick, warm dark-colored jeans. Knitted cardigans decorated with fur along the edges look spectacular (just below the fastener line and further along the entire bottom).
Summer, early spring. You can knit a light model with a large pattern or pattern from thin threads with knitting needles. A short cardigan will look spectacular with a top, and a medium length one with a fitted light dress.

What is combined with a cardigan without fasteners and buttons. This option is at the height of fashion today and knitted clothes without buttons can be combined with different dresses. You will look feminine and stylish if you knit a cardigan, the length of which will be about the same as that of the dress. You can also wear dresses that are slightly longer than the cardigan.

An elongated midi cardigan (covering the hips) or knee length. This option is suitable for slender, short women. You can knit a model with short sleeves and a large pattern in the button area. You can wear it with different models of trousers - slightly flared at the very bottom or with straight lines with arrows. Shoes: a knitted cardigan + trousers, dark shoes (or boots - in winter) on a high platform or with heels will harmoniously complement the ensemble. This will make you look much slimmer and taller.

Long cardigan (below the knee line). Perfect knitwear for tall women! It will look perfect on both full women and women with a slender figure. A wide belt will perfectly complement the outfit (you can weave or knit with your own hands, and purchase a buckle), thanks to which your figure will look more slender and feminine.

A long knitted cardigan can be worn: with long fitted dresses, with black skirts, with a light blouse, with skinny jeans or knitted trousers. If the legs are slender, then you can wear breeches under the cardigan (or denim shorts in summer) and tights to match the breeches.

Short cardigan. In an ensemble with a fitted model, you can safely wear a pencil skirt, a stylish flared skirt and any dress up to a maple to match the top.
Short shorts or breeches with a plain T-shirt will look great in an ensemble with a short knitted cardigan in the summer season. Below is a photo of suitable clothing options for cardigans:

We choose the color of the yarn from which we will knit a suitable cardigan for a woman:

A cardigan knitted from red yarn will go well with yellow, white, black, and also golden colors.

Beige cardigan can be worn with clothes in languid, muted colors. A good accent is golden dwarf clothes and golden high-heeled shoes.

With a blue cardigan, you can create a very stylish ensemble, but you need to consider the following - for a cold and dark blue color, choose the option from
achromatic palette (black, gray or white), and under the warm and light blue clothing options are yellow, orange and even dark green. In an ensemble with a blue knitted cardigan, democratic options such as denim shirts, denim dresses and other denim options will look great.

Universal black cardigan. Under a knitted black cardigan, you can even wear an evening suit (both black and light). Suitable options: clothes in white, silver, light pink.

STYLISH WARM CARDIGAN

Amazing master class from craftswoman Piterson. The knitting process is described clearly, in detail, the pattern is simple, as a result - a surprisingly factory-made thing.

To knit a cardigan, we need threads and knitting needles. Of course, the range of yarn is very large, and everyone can choose the one that he likes. Camel-colored threads were chosen for the cardigan.

The composition of the yarn is acrylic and the addition of wool, and the recommended knitting needles are 4-4.5 mm. I used 7 skeins for the whole cardigan.

Our future cardigan will consist of 7 parts: back - 1 part, shelf - 2 parts, sleeves - 2 parts and pockets - 2 parts.

We start knitting our product from the back. Its pattern is calculated very simply: the width is the half-girth of the hips + 3 cm for a free fit (45 + 3 \u003d 48 cm), the length is the desired length of the future cardigan (65 cm) and the neck width is 14 cm. The length of the shoulder width will be large enough, because. we will knit a style with a lowered shoulder, and our neck will be straight. Since the cardigan model is free, therefore, there will be no armholes in our patterns.

Before casting on for the back, we need to find out how many loops we need for 48cm. To do this, we will knit a sample of 10 loops of 10 rows with the pattern that we will knit the cardigan with. And we will knit with a garter stitch - only facial loops.

In the sample we linked, we can already calculate how many centimeters there will be from 10 loops, and then dividing these 10 loops by the resulting centimeters (for example, 10 loops: 5cm = 2 loops by 1cm), multiply the result by the width of the product (2 loops x 48cm = 96 loops need to dial for 48cm). The thickness of the yarn and knitting needles, as well as the knitting itself (tight or weak), is different for everyone, so the number of loops will be different for everyone.

And so, having collected the required number of loops for the back, we will knit our part with facial loops to the bevel of the shoulder.

And we will perform the bevel of the shoulder with partial knitting. For those who do not know how to perform partial knitting, I will try to explain the technique of its implementation. The bevel of the shoulder is obtained as a result of not knitting the last few loops of the row. Under-knitting is performed every second row, and each time a certain number of loops are not tied up.

It is necessary to make calculations for partial knitting. First we need to measure the length of the shoulder and find out how many loops are in this length. In my example, the shoulder length is 17 cm, and 17 cm consists of 24 loops. Now let's measure the height of the bevel of the shoulder and find out how many rows are in this height. In the example, the bevel height is 3 cm, which is 11 rows.

Since under-knitting is performed every second row, we need to divide our rows by 2, i.e. 11:2=5 and 1 in the remainder. In other words, 5 times we will not knit a certain number of loops, and the remaining row will be a smoothing row.

If we look at the figure, we will see that five under-knits form 6 sections from the same number of un-knitted loops. To find out the number of loose loops, you need to divide the length of the shoulder by the number of these sections. In my example, 24 loops: 6 sections = 4 loops.

That is, every second row we will not knit 4 loops 5 times. Since the shoulder bevel of our part is on both sides, we will not knit each front and back row five times each.

In practice, it looks like this. Having knitted the entire front row and leaving the last 4 loops,

we turn our knitting to the wrong side, leaving 4 untied loops on the right knitting needle. Now in the wrong side we remove the first loop unknitted on the right knitting needle

and pull it by the working thread so that both of its walls lie on the knitting needle (this is a boomerang loop, which is necessary when turning the knitting so that holes do not form)

Now we continue to knit the wrong side to the last 4 loops, which we also leave unknitted and turn the knitting, make a boomerang loop and continue to knit the front row. In the front row, we will not knit 4 loops again, i.e. we should already have 8 loops left on the knitting needle, while the boomerang loop, which lies on the knitting needle with two walls, is counted as one.

In this way we will perform partial knitting for the bevel of the shoulder. After completing 5 under-knittings on the left and right sides of the part, we will knit the last smoothing row. In this row, all loops are knitted, including those that we did not knit earlier. This row is knitted with facial loops, and boomerang loops are also knitted with facial loops for both walls as one. And now we close the loops and our back part is ready!

Now we will knit a shelf, which consists of two identical parts. The shelf pattern is very simple: the length remains the same, and the width is 1/4 of the half-girth of the hips + 8-10 cm for the wrap (in my example, 29 cm). The shoulder width remains the same, but the neckline in our style turns into a lapel, so on the pattern it looks like a shoulder bevel with a difference in bevel height (6cm) and length (12cm).

We collect the required number of loops for the width of our shelf and knit our part with front loops to the bevel of the neck, which we will also do with partial knitting.

Since the bevel of the neck is different from the bevel of the shoulder, it will be necessary to make new calculations for the neck, and we will knit the shoulder bevel according to the calculations that we did for the back.

After the smoothing row, we close the loops and our shelf is ready. We will have exactly two such details.

Sleeves and pockets

We turn to knitting sleeves. But first, let's take a look at the pattern and make the necessary calculations. The sleeve pattern is very simple, since there is no armhole in the style of our cardigan, which means there will be no sleeve hem. The length of the sleeve is calculated by measuring the length of the arm minus the length of the lowered shoulder (in my example 50cm - 5cm = 45cm). Bottom Width: Wrist + 2cm for allowances + a few centimeters, depending on how wide you want the sleeve (16cm + 2cm + 2cm = 20cm). At the top, the sleeve pattern widens enough to allow freedom of movement in the cardigan. Its length I took 40cm.

Now we calculate how many loops will be in 20cm (28 loops), and how many in 40cm (58 loops), and find the difference: 58-28 = 30 loops, that is, our knitting up will increase by 30 loops, which we will add at the beginning and at the end of the row so that our detail increases symmetrically. Therefore, we divide 30 loops by 2 and get 15. This means that we will add loops on each side of the row while knitting the sleeve exactly 15 times. Now we find out how many rows will be in our sleeve length (in my case, 165 rows fit in 45 cm), and divide these rows by the number of additions (165 rows: 15 times = 11 rows) And so, as a result, we found out how many rows to knit to do adding loops. In other words, we will add loops at the beginning and at the end of the row every 11th row.

Now we pick up loops for the width of the bottom of the sleeve and knit 10 rows of facial loops, and in the 11th row we will add one loop at the beginning and at the end of the row. You can add loops with a crochet or knitting two from one loop. Next, we knit again 10 rows and in the 11th row we add one loop on each side. And so we will knit our part until the required number of loops for the width of the top of the sleeve is on the needle. Then we close the loops and our sleeve is ready. We need to connect two such details.

Pockets are knitted very easily, the length and width of which depends on your desire. Pockets are also knitted with facial loops.

When all the details of the product are connected, before assembling the product, we will need to carry out a wet-heat treatment of our parts. But first you need to fill all the threads.

Wet processing Bonded parts can be slightly dampened or washed to straighten the product and give the necessary shrinkage.

On a flat surface, you need to lay out a dark fabric and circle the patterns of details.

We lay out the details of the product on the canvas, straighten it and pin it with pins according to the pattern of the model.

After the parts have dried, they can be slightly steamed with an iron, while the weight of the iron remains in the hand.

Product assembly

There are several ways to assemble a knitted product, I opted for a sewing machine.

First, we sweep the shoulder seams,

and so that the shoulder seam does not stretch during wear, it is necessary to baste a small strip of fabric with a length equal to the length of the shoulder, and a width of 1 cm.

Before sewing seams on a typewriter, the foot of the machine must be loosened so that it does not stretch our product.

Then we sew the side seams, leaving for the armhole a length equal to the width of the top of the sleeve.

We sew the sleeves at the elbow seams

and we sew them into the armholes we left.

We sew pockets, but I decided to abandon the pockets, because due to the weak knitting they pulled the product strongly, so I removed them.

Our work is finished! Cardigan is ready!

A cardigan can be wrapped up by picking up a beautiful belt for it. Or wear without a belt.

One skein of thread costs 140 rubles, it took 7 skeins per cardigan. 980 rubles.

A classic cardigan is one of the variants of a knitted sweater, the main difference of which is the absence of a collar. Use such products in the fall as a light coat and as a summer version of the cape. Modern fashion designers offer a large selection of cardigan types: fitted, long models, flyaways, trapeziums, short products to the waist, with a wrap, zippers, with interesting Asian motifs, women's, children's and men's. How can a beginner needlewoman create such a product with her own hands?

Step-by-step instructions with diagrams and job descriptions

The peculiarity of the cardigan is that this piece of clothing is universal, has no attachment to either gender, season or age. Both a child and a young fashionista will be happy with a warm knitted coat. The popularity of products contributed to the creation of a huge number of models that differ in color, type of knitting (large, "braid", "spikelet", shawl), length. Let's look at the detailed schemes of the most fashionable this season, but available in execution, cardigans.

Master class on knitting a long cardigan with a belt

To make a long cardigan that emphasizes the silhouette, for a woman in size 46-48, take: 1 kg of yarn in raspberry color "Maqic JAZZ", knitting needles No. 3 (circular). When knitting a pattern, the thread is taken in two additions. Before work, you need to remember which common abbreviations are used in most knitting patterns. Here they are: R. - row, p. - loop, persons. ch. - facial surface, out. ch. - wrong side, cf. n. - middle loops, out. p. - purl loop, persons. n. - front loop. To make a product, proceed as follows:

  1. Back.
    • We start knitting with this part of the product. On ordinary knitting needles we collect 160 p. And we knit 90 strips with an “English rubber band”, which is done like this - one out, one front. To designate a knitting pattern in this technique, the following abbreviation is used - 1X1 OR 1/1.
    • In the next - 91 p. we evenly remove 50 loops, leave 110. We do it like this: we knit every third and fourth loops together.
    • 92-95 p. will be performed with front stitch, and 96-99 p. - purl.
    • Work the next 30 rows in stockinette stitch. Again we repeat the alternation 4 through 4 (wrong side and front surface) - 129-132 p. knit out. ch., and 133-136 p. - facial. We keep this alternation order up to the 259th row, taking into account the knitting of the armhole.
    • Armhole. When making this fragment for 211 p. close 5 p. on both sides (total 10 p.). To do this, in the 211 and 213 rows, after knitting the first edge loop, we take together 3 sts once, and in 214 and 218 p. - 2 loops together 4 times in a row.
    • Neck line. In 253 r. we find the midline, count 22 cf. loops and begin to decrease them. To do this, in 2 p., starting from 253 (i.e., in 253 and 255 p.), we knit symmetrically on both sides, starting from 11 loops in the center, two loops together 4 times. In rows 254 and 256 we knit the central loops two together once.
    • 259 r. - last. We close its loops. To do this, we take two loops at once and knit them together, return the new loop obtained to the first knitting needle, take it again and another loop and knit it together. We follow this order until one loop remains. We pass the thread through it and tie a knot. Everything, the detail is ready.
    • We knit the left shoulder in the same way.

  1. Right shelf.
    • We collect 93 p. and knit 90 p. "English gum".
    • Working with 91 rows, cast off evenly 30 loops - we knit each 3 and 4 loops together.
    • In the 92nd row, the extreme lion. 10 loops will be knitted with an elastic band 1/1., We knit the next 53 loops, alternating 4 persons. n. and 4 out.
    • Starting from the 93rd p., 30 rows we use only the front surface, from 123 p. again alternate 4 to 4 (purl, faces. surface).
  2. Armhole. The order of work on this part of the right shelf is similar to knitting the back. In 211 r. close 5 loops on each side of the product (total - 10 p.). To do this, we knit them in 211 and 213 rows after the first edge loop (we take 3 sts together once), and in 214 and 218 p. two loops together 4 times in a row.
  3. Neck. This part is knitted at 247 p. We remove 16 sts on the left. Starting from 247, we take 2 loops together 4 times in a row (in 247 and 249 rows). 248 row and 250-258 we knit faces. ch. 259 r. - we finish knitting the part by closing the loops.
  4. Right sleeve. We string 75 p. and knit 35 p. "English gum". 36 p. - remove 22 sts evenly, knitting every 3-4 sts, two together. 37-40 p. - front surface, 41-44 p. - purl, so alternate up to 113 p. For 49 p. we expand the canvas, adding in all 8 rows 1 loop 7 times. To do this, we make a crochet. We get 69 p. and knit faces. ch. up to 163 p.
  5. Starting from 163 p., in order to draw the line of the sleeve okonka, on both sides of the shelf we close three p., knitting them together. Then in each even row (164,166,168, etc.) we decrease 2 sts in two rows, 1 st in 9 rows, 3 loops once. It should turn out 23 p. We finish knitting the details of 193 p., close.
  6. The right sleeve is done in the same way. We make sure that the knitting density is the same, otherwise the details will differ in length and width.
  7. The left front of the cardigan and the sleeve are knitted in the same order.
  8. Belt. To make it, we collect 25 loops, we knit with an elastic band 1/1 in a row for 240 rows. We close the 241st.
  9. Connecting parts. We sew in a zigzag all parts of the product: the back with the right and then with the left shelf. We sew sleeves. The finished cardigan is steamed and dried.

Three-color cardigan in the style of Lalo Dolidze - braid gradient

For the lalo model, Alize Lanagold 800 threads are used, which contain 49% wool. For a size 44 sweater you will need: 16 skeins of 100 g each in three shades (6/5/5), knitting needles two pairs of No. 5 60, 80 cm long, 3 mm 40 cm each (circular), loop holders. The description will use the generally accepted abbreviations used in most knitting magazines: p. - row, p. - loop, persons. ch. - front surface, out. ch. - wrong side, cf. n. - middle loops, out. p. - purl loop, persons. p. - front loop, chrome. - edge loop, nech.r. - odd row. How to create a product:

  1. Main fabric including front and back.
    • We collect 228 p., We take a thread in three additions. 2 p. we double the number of loops, for this, after each simple loop, we make a crochet (we take the thread in the form of a loop, throw it on the second knitting needle with knitted loops). This technique will give the product volume and help round the bottom.
    • The third row is performed as follows: 1 chrome., 2 out, 30 persons. We keep this order until the end of the row, we knit the remaining three loops like this 2 persons., 1 chrome.
  2. Knitting braid.
    • The whole jacket is the presence of large braids. One such braid contains 30 loops. There should be 14 such patterns in total. From the 4th row, we begin knitting braids, making a crossing of 15x15 loops. To complete it, remove 15 sts on a spare knitting needle, move them to work and knit the next 15 sts with facial ones. We pull the working knitting needle forward and leave the already knitted loops on the fishing line, then the knitting needle remains free.
    • Then we take an additional knitting needle in the left hand and perform it with the help of a working one - 15 persons. n. and 2 out. Again, 15 sts are removed on a separate knitting needle, we send them to work. 15 loops knit faces. ch., we pull the working knitting needle. Freeing it from the loops (by shifting them to the fishing line), we knit 15 faces. n. with an additional knitting needle. We continue to the end of the row. We knit the next purl row in the same way. Such knitting will provide crossing. Crossing must be repeated after 28 rows. The result will be 14 braids: three for the shelves, one for the armholes and 6 pcs. - on the back.

  1. Armhole.
    • The armhole armhole is 10 sts smaller than the back and 20 sts more than the front. On the rim from the back, you will have to decrease one loop in all odd rows, knitting 2 loops together. From the front, close 10 sts at once, for this you need to decrease 3, 3, 2, 2 loops alternately in odd rows. It turns out that 30 p. of one braid will go to the armhole. First one shelf is knitted, then the second. We observe the height of the armhole at the level of 18 cm.
    • Next, we close the loops from the 2nd and 3rd braids (this will be the shoulder), but 1 braid will still have to be knitted 10 cm, which will go to the collar. Then we close the loops here as well. We return to the okat on the back. Here we decrease the number of loops one by one in all nech. R. As a result, the height of the rim of the back of the product will coincide with the height of the rim of the armhole along the shelf.
  2. Sleeve.
    • We do it from the bottom up. Cast on 50 sts in the second row, by yarn over increase one st after each st, we get 100 sts. We continue to knit braids, as on the main fabric. You can add in each 10 out to increase the volume. R. one loop. We knit all additional loops with facial ones. We direct the braids on the left sleeve to the right side, on the other - vice versa.
    • Let's start with the sleeves. The 10 loops added earlier will have to be removed. However, the okat on the back is gentle, so you will have to remove 1 st in each purl row. On the front, it is much deeper, so you need to close 7 loops at once, and then - 3 times in each out. R. 1 p each. We finish knitting the sleeve by decreasing the number of loops on both sides in this order: 3, 5, 10 loops. We close all the remaining loops.
  3. Connecting parts. The cardigan was knitted entirely at once, so it remains only to sew the sleeves, the center of the collar, the collar itself to the back and sew the shoulder seams on top.

Knitting pattern for a mohair cardigan with batwing sleeves

For this cardigan model, we take 600-650 g of mohair yarn, straight knitting needles No. 7 and meter circular needles No. 5 and No. 7. The product is made in the form of a single cross-knit fabric:

  • We start work from the left side across. We collect 60 loops and continue to knit with a stitch 26 p., Increasing them by 1 loop for bevels. Then in all fourth rows we add 8 times one loop with the help of a crochet, in every second we add 15 p. In even rows we add two times 4 loops each.
  • Next persons. a row from the edges (from the right for the back, from the left for the shelf) we collect an additional 58 p each. Then we knit straight, 19 rows. Divide the fabric in half for the neckline. Set aside 120 p. on the left side and on the right, knit 120 loops 30 p., Set aside. We continue to work with the left edge with other 120 loops, at the same time we collect 15 loops on the right for the collar. After 30 r. close the loops.
  • For the right shelf with an anthracite thread, we collect 135 p., We work faces. stitch 30 p., remove 15 p. from the right edge. We knit the deferred 120 loops and include 120 p. from the right shelf in the process. We finish all 240 p. symmetrically. In the last row, the sleeves of the loop are closed.
  • Connecting parts. We straighten the part according to the pattern, slightly moisten and dry. Sew the inner edge of the collar to the neckline.

Stylish cardigan with button-down hood

In the manufacture of this product for girls, you will need 4 buttons, apricot-colored mohair yarn. Description of work:

  • Right shelf. We start knitting the part with the fact that we collect 41 p. Next, we perform 8 rows of garter stitch. 9 p.: 1 chrome, 6 - garter stitch, 8 - out., 3 - plat. viscous, 16 - out., 6 - garter stitch and 1 edge. At a height of 55 cm, we make an armhole. At the level of 66 cm, we remove three loops in two even rows in a row, in the next two - 2 each, and three rows - one each.
  • The left shelf is performed in a similar way.
  • Back. We collect 77 loops and knit 8 strips with a simple garter stitch. 9 p.: 1 edging, 6 - board. viscous, 16 - out., 6 - garter stitch, 1 - chrome. At a height of 55 cm, we cut symmetrically in three loops, remove one p. Three times in all second rows. At a height of 76 cm, we reduce the neckline by 33 points, and remove 16 points from each side that go to the shoulders.
  • Sleeve. 36 p. Garter stitch knit 8 rows, then add symmetrically 11 loops in all 6 p. With a height of 44 cm, we cut 4 loops in each even row 6 times (i.e., in six even rows in a row, you need to remove 4 p.). Having tied up to a level of 51 cm, we finish by closing all the loops. How this is done, see the first diagram.
  • Assembly. We process the details, sew the sleeves.
  • Hood. Along the edge of the neck, we take 85 loops from the very detail of the back: 1 - hem, 6 - garter stitch, 8 - out., 55 - garter stitch, 8 - out., 6 - garter stitch, one edge. We knit 38 cm, sew. On the right shelf we knit loops (4 pcs.) For buttons.

Openwork transforming cardigan without buttons

An ideal option in the off-season is a transforming cardigan. It acts as a jacket, shawl, stole. For a product in sizes 44-46, take 500 g of mohair, knitting needles No. 6. How to choose the right yarn and knitting needles

Cardigans are knitted by machine and by hand. In the latter case, the choice of spokes is of particular importance. There is an opinion that their thickness should be 2 times the yarn. The most popular knitting needles for knitting cardigans are No. 3, 4 and 5. The number indicates their thickness. Knitting needles differ in the material of manufacture: aluminum, steel, plastic, bamboo. They are also classified by type: open, closed (there is a limiter at the end) and circular (connected with a bundle).

Now there are a huge number of yarn options. The result of all work depends on her choice. Some contain 100% natural threads (chinchilla, cotton, angora), others are supplemented with synthetic threads (melange, Pingouin Familia, Alize Lanagold 800). It is important to take into account the thickness of the fibers, the structure, the length in the skein, the presence of color effects. For the manufacture of warm clothes, it is better to take mohair, angora, alpaca (natural wool of goats and rabbits). Products from them are warm, soft, light. Let's look at some of the most popular types of yarn:

  • Wool - fibers from the wool of animals (camels, dogs, sheep, rabbits). It differs in thickness, strength and length of the fibers. The most durable wool is camel. The general qualities of this material include softness, high thermal insulation, hygroscopicity. The disadvantages of wool are the formation of pellets on things.
  • Acrylic is a synthetic material. In terms of its qualities, it resembles wool, is resistant to weak alkali, acids, and sunlight. Good for coloring. Moths do not eat acrylic clothing, it does not stretch or shrink. It is used as an improver of the properties of natural yarn.
  • Mohair is considered one of the warmest types of yarn. It is the wool of angora goats. The best mohair is obtained by cutting goats. It is used as a mixture with synthetic fibers, due to the fact that pure mohair cannot form a thread and breaks up into fibers.

How to knit a cardigan with knitting needles: diagrams with a description for beginners

In the classical sense, a cardigan is a kind of jacket or a jacket knitted from wool. Usually it is much lower in length than the waistline, but fitted. Initially, the model did not provide for a collar, and the neck had a rather deep neckline. A small number of fasteners (buttons, rivets, hooks) gives the product a certain negligence, freedom of movement.

This element of the wardrobe is used as outerwear, that is, instead of a coat, raincoat, jacket or jacket. Therefore, often paired with a cardigan, sweaters, golfs or knitted leggings go with the style.

It is better to start with a simple one, because this is a shoulder product. Therefore, it will be necessary to knit individual parts - a shelf, a back, sleeves - and then connect them together. Therefore, if you still do not know how to count and match patterns, knit a plain elongated cardigan jacket in garter stitch.

  1. The work uses: yarn, knitting needles and a hook. The amount of material is calculated as follows: size 40-42 - 850 g of yarn; 44-46 p. - 900 g of yarn; 68-50 p. - 950 g. If your size is less than indicated (or more), calculate the number of threads based on the proposed proportions.
  2. The main fabric is garter stitch: a row of facial loops, a row of purl loops, an edge loop is purl.
  3. We knit the cuffs, the bottom of the product and the outer edges of the shelf (those that are not sewn with the back) with a single elastic band (one front - one purl).
  4. Set of loops: back - 86, 93 or 100 p., respectively; left shelf - 41, 45, 49 p.; right shelf - similar to the left; sleeve - 40-42 p.
  5. knitting. First, we knit several rows of elastic. Then we move on to the main pattern. We prepare the canvases of the desired length. The length of the canvas to the sleeve mark is 58 cm. At a distance of 80-81 cm from the typesetting row, we begin to close the loops to form the shoulder bevels. We do this symmetrically, that is, on both sides. 1x6-7 sts, in every second row 3x6-7 sts and 1x5-7 sts. In total, 28-30 sts come out, respectively.
  6. Neckline. To make the neck slightly rounded, close in every second row 1x5 p. And 1x4 p. And so on until the loops are completely used up.
  7. Features knitting sleeves. After the elastic in each 8 row, on both sides we add one loop until the edge width reaches 72, 76 or 78 p. We close all the loops at the same time when the sleeve length is 53-55 cm.
  8. Product assembly. First we sew the shoulders and sides. Then we knit an elastic band along the inner edge of the product (this is done using a new set of loops). Last we sew the sleeves, having previously connected them at the seam.

By a similar principle, other models of knitting cardigans are built. Having mastered the simplest principle of making a knitted product such as a cardigan, you can move on to more complex models. As a warm-up, we offer another example of a diagram for beginners with a description of how to knit a cardigan.

The following model of an elongated cardigan will not be difficult to knit, because the product is knitted in one canvas. That is, you simultaneously knit the back and 2 shelves, avoiding the side seams. The sleeves, however, will need to be knitted separately, and then sewn during assembly.

  1. Since this is a summer model, we take thinner threads, for example, "Iris", the desired diameter of the knitting needle and a hook. In this model of cardigans for knitting, two-color knitting is used. Therefore, we need yarn of sandy beige (300 g) and white (50 g) shades. Finished product size: 46-48.
  2. Pattern according to the scheme. The main knitting is with a dark thread, we knit white 2 rapports three times: the first - after 9 rapports, the second and third - after 6 rapports of the main color.
  3. Set of loops - 338 p.
  4. knitting. We knit 156 rows according to the scheme. Then we form armholes by dividing the fabric into 3 parts and knitting according to the scheme separately. The distribution of the canvas is done as follows: 6 rapports in width - right shelf; 2 rapp. - close; 12 rapp. - back; 2 rapp. - close; 6 rapp. - left shelf.
  5. Next, be careful. We knit the back detail for another 8 rapports and close the loops. We knit the shelves 6 rapports up, and then in every second row we close the loops to form the neckline: 8 p., 7 p., 6, p., 5 p., 4 p. and 2 times 3 p. After which the shelves reached a length of 8 rapports, and you can close the edge. Shelves are knitted in a mirror.
  6. We knit the sleeves as follows. A set of loops - 110 p. After 6 rapports on each side of the fabric, close in every second row 1 time 12 p. And 28 times 1 p., Thus, having worked 5 more rapports up.
  7. We sew the product on the shoulders and sew in the sleeves. Then we tie all the seams with two rows of semi-columns and 1 next to the “crustaceans”.
  8. This model has button closures. Therefore, when crocheting on the right shelf, we form loop holes. And on the left shelf, respectively, you will need to sew on these same buttons.
  9. Any “newly made” knitted product should be steamed before being worn (perhaps rinsed first).
