How to sew a hat and snood from knitwear: pattern for women

Typically, such products are made from soft knitwear that stretches well. A knitted hat can be of different shapes. For warm autumn and spring, unlined products are sewn in one layer of fabric. If the hat is designed for winter, then fleece and fur are used as insulation.

The most popular models of knitted hats:

  • With ears
  • Stocking
  • Tight-fitting

A stocking cap can be sewn from soft knitwear. In this case, a pipe is sewn off and tied at the end. A scarf-collar is very easy to sew. It is necessary to fold the fabric in half lengthwise and sew. After this, the resulting pipe is sewn together to form a ring. The diameter of the ring is adjustable depending on desire and the number of folds.

Stocking cap, knitted sock for a girl, child: patterns

This hat is very easy to sew. It is necessary to create a pattern on paper and transfer it to the fabric. It turns out two parts that resemble the letter “M”. They need to be sewn. The result will be something similar to an ellipse. It needs to be turned out and folded in half. Then this product is put on the head. There are several options for patterns, they can be seen in the diagram.

Fleece is a very soft and pleasant to the touch fabric. It is used for sewing hats and scarves for children. When making adult accessories, fleece is used as lining fabric.

Fleece hat options:

  • With bubo
  • Hooded hat
  • With lapel
  • Straight with ears
  • With long hem

Fleece is mainly used for sewing children's clothes. This is due to the low cost of the fabric. Similar accessories are decorated with flowers and buboes. You can sew on the ears. Nowadays, the cat hat with one-piece ears is at the peak of popularity.

The Pavlograd shawl is very popular. It is used for sewing hats, snoods and finishing collars of outerwear. You can sew a cute demi-season folder from a scrap of fabric from a Pavlograd scarf. Fleece or thin fur is used as insulation, because the main fabric is quite thin.

Features of a shawl hat:

  • All seams and allowances are processed using an overlocker.
  • The fabric does not stretch, so the hat sits loosely on the head
  • Use beautiful accessories for decoration

Please note that you can sew the simplest version of a stocking cap, which then needs to be pinned in different ways.

These hats are very popular and are usually worn in early autumn or spring. This fabric stretches well and fits your head. The cost of the product is small, and it is very easy to sew.

The easiest way to sew a hat is in ten minutes. This is an ordinary sock hat, which is sewn from thin knitwear. You don't have to use paper to create a pattern. The markings are made directly on the fabric. This helps save a lot of time. It is necessary to measure the depth of the cap, width and allowance for allowances. Cutouts are made at the top so that the accessory follows the shape of the head.

There are two options for sewing a hat with ears. The easiest way is to sew a regular sock hat and then attach the ears. But you can do it differently and take into account the ears on the pattern. Below are several options for patterns for a girl's hat. If you are sewing a hat for late autumn, you can make elongated ears at the bottom. They cover the baby's cheeks and prevent the entry of wind.

This is a great option for kids who have a lot of clothes. It is necessary to combine two fabrics of different colors and with different patterns. To do this, two parts are built and sewn together. For this, elastic threads are used, which allow the product to stretch perfectly.

Features of sewing a double-sided knitted hat:

  • Use knitted fabric of the same texture
  • Pay attention to the density and stretchability of the fabric
  • Before sewing, be sure to determine whether the fabric is fading.
  • The fabric should not be see through and be very thin

The pattern of such a hat is quite complicated, since there are a lot of cutouts and seams when sewing. This significantly complicates the sewing of the product.

But if you are an excellent sewer, you can sew a turban without much difficulty. The whole difficulty lies in the presence of a large number of darts.

Usually the entire fabric of the product is pulled forward. If necessary, the junction of all pieces of fabric is decorated with a brooch or flower.

As you can see, sewing a knitted hat is quite simple. In addition, you can earn a little extra money from such a hobby. After all, in autumn and spring these accessories sell with a bang.

The cold season has come, so it's time to warm up!
Today’s article is dedicated to sewing a “warm fleece snood” and I decorated it with a felt owl appliqué.
A little earlier I sewed a hat from fleece and to make a set, we will sew a snood from the rest of the fabric.
Such a snood can be sewn not only from fleece, but also from knitwear, for example: footer, rib, kulirka or any other suitable stretch fabric.
I will sew for my daughter, but the principle of cutting and sewing is also suitable for an adult, only you need to take a larger size.
I chose a fitted model for sewing, so that the child could cover his throat well, and in cold weather, his nose.

What you will need for sewing:
Textile- for such a model, you need a length equal to the circumference of the head + 2 cm increase for the seam, well, you can add a little more for a little freedom + 2 cm. For example, the circumference of the head is 54 cm. And here we add about 4 cm. It turns out we will need the length 58 cm.
Width 40 cm + 2 cm for seam = 42 cm.
Scissors
Sewing machine
Threads to match
Sewing pins
Well, and a creative mood)

We cut the required size of fabric, fold this cut in half widthwise with the right side inward. For convenience, we chop our workpiece with pins along the entire length or sweep it with threads by hand.

We sew along the edge of the length with a regular straight stitch.

Now turn it right side out. (I sewed the applique in advance).

Straighten and smooth with your hands.

Now we fold the length of the snood in half and chop the two sides together in two layers (not four) around the circumference as far as possible.

from a different angle.

Now we sew on the machine, sew while it is sewing, to the limit, until it turns inside out.

Now we turn it inside out.

There is such a hole left, which we sew up with a blind seam by hand.

That's all our snood is ready. Now we are ready for a snowy winter.)

Later I will try to post photos of how it will look on my daughter.
So bookmark this page so you don't miss it.

Snood with a hat - a ready-made kit.

And this is how snood looks in real life.
In general, I like it, but it turned out a little wide for me, so then I sewed it in a little, but I can’t take a photo of everything. Therefore, I’m putting the first option on display for now.

How to sew a snood from knitwear?

A snood scarf is just a great thing, as it is versatile and can be used as a hood. So, to sew a snood from knitwear we need the following:

    1) a piece of knitwear of your choice, 1 m long and 1.5 m wide;

    3) sewing machine.

    Sewing process

You need to fold the fabric with the right side inward so as to get a rectangle measuring 0.5 meters 1.5 (fold along the transverse thread).

As a result, you should get a kind of pipe with a length of 1.5 meters. Now you need to turn the product onto your face.

Align this pipe so that the seam is centered. Then you need to fold the fabric, connecting the ends where the seam is.

Now all that remains is to turn the snood over your face and close the pass. This can be done carefully either by hand or by machine.

    Everything is ready!

A snood is a scarf with ends sewn together. Sewing it is quite simple, you need to take a knitted fabric, wrap the edges and sew the ends together, you will get a tube scarf. You can also knit a scarf on knitting needles, sew the ends and turn it into a snood.

An accessory that has been fashionable for several seasons in a row can be easily and quickly sewn by yourself. At the same time, it will be more original and interesting than those bought in a store. I can suggest this method. At a fabric store, buy a piece of knitted fabric measuring 50cm*150cm. When choosing fabric, consider what you will wear the snood with, whether it will match well in texture and color.

The sewing process is very simple, even a schoolgirl who knows how to sew on a machine can master it:

    • fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the right side inward;
    • sew the seam along the length;
    • connect the edges of the scarf by sewing a seam in a circle and leaving a small unstitched section to turn the pipe out;
    • Turn the scarf right side out and hand-stitch the unstitched area.

    Snood is ready!

Very fashionable snoods can be sewn from knitwear, especially since nothing is simpler - the pattern is very easy and even a novice craftswoman can do it. I will present to your attention a master class on sewing a double-sided snood from knitwear:

This is a very simple job for those who generally do sewing. You will need a piece of knitted fabric (not necessarily new, you can take something that is no longer worn for some reason) measuring half a meter by a meter. If the width is a little larger, it’s okay, but it’s better not to make it longer. The sewing principle is as follows:

    1. Fold the fabric in half with the wrong side out. The length at the edges is secured with pins.
    2. We sew the edges of the fabric on a machine. We leave approximately 4 - 5 centimeters unstitched at each end of the scarf.
    3. Now we need to turn our workpiece right side out.
    4. Twist it somewhere in the middle, preferably several times.
    5. The remaining free ends of the product are pinned from the inside out and stitched. It is necessary to leave a small gap so that you can sew it on your hands later.

For knitted snood we will work:

    Option 1

Knitted fabric, preferably thin. But you can also take openwork or angora.

We cut out a rectangle 75x150cm (we take the full width, often knitted fabrics are 200cm wide)

We process the edges along long cuts.

We twist the fabric and carefully sew the short edges.

    Snood is ready.

    Option 2

We will need an old sweater.

Cut off the sleeves and neckline.

We cut the side parts of our future snood in a straight line to the elastic band of the sweater.

    Sew up the side edges.

We process the top edge. Our snood is ready!

Sew a snood made of fabric is very simple. I'll tell you how I did it, if you allow. I sewed a double-sided snood so that I could create different looks. I took jersey - warm jersey with a pattern and plain. I chose black fabric with voluminous roses. The fabric is not thick, so you can sew easily. The snood will look beautiful on you and will not add unnecessary volume. Now we make two stripes. I had seventy centimeters of black fabric with a width of fifty. I decided that I would take the same amount of colored fabric. The result was two strips with a length of 140 centimeters. I sewed them together. First of all, I sewed a side stitch, and then stitched along the entire length. I left a little room to turn it inside out. Then we sew it together completely and can be worn by making three turns). Sometimes I switch fabrics. For example, roses on top, or black knitwear on top. depending on the image.

You can also make beautiful knots on one side. It turns out very beautiful and unusual. If you like non-standard things, then you should definitely like it.

A snood can be sewn from any knitted fabric, from an old wide and long scarf, or knitted or crocheted. So that it turns out to be a rectangle. The length can be at your discretion, from 1 to 1.5 meters, width from 75 to 85 cm. I knitted with knitting needles 1 meter long, 75 cm wide. We sew the prepared fabric from the wrong side in the shape of a pipe, then turn it inside out and sew the ends together. Snood is ready. It turns out to be a very comfortable and versatile item that can be used instead of a scarf or hood.

It is not difficult to sew such a snood, but it looks amazingly beautiful.

We decide on the dimensions of our product. Now fold the resulting rectangle so that the two long edges touch each other, back side up. We chop off the edges with needles and sew the entire long edge. If the fabric is very stretchy, use a zigzag stitch. We get a long pipe. Turn it inside out.

Carefully hem the edges of our product and sew them together.

A wonderfully beautiful snood is ready. It can be worn both instead of a hat and instead of a scarf. It also looks great just wrapped around the neck.

In our time, snood was called trumpet. Snood can be sewn from knitted fabric.

Pattern. Connect the parts to make a double-thick snood and sew it together.

According to the diagram, make a snood that can be worn as a jacket. In the photo there is a snood in a regular sock and a snood on a mannequin as a jacket.

And step by step in the photographs the entire stage of sewing a snood from knitted fabric is shown. Even a novice dressmaker can sew such a snood.
