Coffee hair color: a variety of shades and coloring tips. Who suits golden hair color and how to choose your perfect shade Pallet golden coffee

  • June 28, 2015

Hello! I have been using Palette paint for many years. From time to time I try to cheat on it with other brands, but I still come back, because it has a pleasant texture, many shades, it is available in almost any store, and plus, the price is affordable. Usually I choose medium dark shades to darken the roots, and keep the ends of the hair light (I make myself an ombre).

So, the original color:

The roots have grown a little, by half a centimeter, because. the previous coloring was a little more than two weeks ago, but the pigment was washed off from the previously clarified hair, and I wanted to fix it (usually I paint every 1.5-2 months):

I especially like the shades "Cocoa" and "Golden Roasting" level 5, but this time I decided to achieve a more contrasting transition and took the shade WN3 Golden coffee- the one on which Palette's advertising campaign with Natalia Oreira is built. Natalia's color is very beautiful, rich, dark brown with a golden tint (there were a lot of advertisements not only on TV, but also in magazines, so I had the opportunity to examine it better). But in the color map, for some reason, this shade gives off red, although the alphanumeric designation says that the color should be brown (W), matte (N), 3rd level of depth (dark chestnut). On the other hand, on the stand under the boxes with this shade there was also a sample of the dyed strand, and there was no longer any red tint in it (the color was almost the same as on the box, golden brown). What to believe?.. But more on that below.

Hoping that there would not be a lot of red, I still bought a box for 130 rubles (before the crisis, it could be purchased for only 100).

At home, I was disappointed for the first time - looking at the typical components of the box (tube of paint, developer, gloves, instructions), I saw that on the bottle with the developer it was indicated - 9%. To be honest, this shocked me, because usually 6% oxidants come in dark shades of Palette, and this is quite enough. 9-ku is usually put in blond shades. At first I thought it was an accident, even then I checked other boxes of paint in the store, but no - everywhere there are 9s in the kit. Upset. Apparently, the manufacturers decided in this way to please everyone (since the shade is advertised), in order to certainly paint over any hair - both gray and very dark. I can't find any other explanation.

Since this is a high percentage for me, I was afraid to paint. After reading a bunch of information on how to lower the percentage of oxidizer, I realized that the only way is to mix it with a lower percentage oxidizing agent. Water and other substances will not help. For my own peace of mind, I had to add a spoonful of this balm and an oily honey capsule of “Grandmother Agafia” to the mixture. This, of course, did not reduce the percentage, but at least slightly protected the hair from aggressive influences.

It is better to stir the paint in a large room, and not in the bathroom - I found the scent to be stronger than other dark shades from this brand., but when applied, the mixture smelled less. The paint was applied well, did not flow. The skin didn't sting. Half of the package was enough for my roots. The paint seemed sooo intense - any contact with the skin or fabric is fraught with a long washout. My husband even had an allergy attack (nose and eyes), which is surprising, because he often helps me to make up Palette without consequences, and this time he did not even come close to the “scene”.

30 minutes passed, and I went to wash off the paint. Dark red-brown water poured from my hair for a very long time, I even said goodbye to ombre - I thought that the light ends would also be toned, but this did not happen. I washed my hair with shampoo several times to definitely wash my hair from caustic paint. Hair was stiffer than usual - apparently, the percentage of oxidizer made itself felt. There is no balm in the paint, I used my own. Hair also fell out more than with other shades, two or three times.

About the result

After drying, it turned out that the color did not match the color of Natalia at all - it was maroon!!! There is plenty of red pigment in it!

In daylight indoors:

At the back of the room:

Color in the sun:

I doubt very much that Oreira was painted with it (even for advertising purposes, after all, I’m not quite a naive Chukchi girl to believe that she uses cheap household paint, but at least I was still waiting for the shade to match). I remembered my youth, when, after graduating from school, I dyed my hair in the “burgundy” shade of Estelle paint that appeared on the shelves then ...

The tone pattern in the map turned out to be closer to reality than a strand on a stand - be careful! Well, the box seems to be from a different shade altogether - you can ignore the picture.

One can only hope that the red pigment will wash off quickly, and this vigorous shampoo will help me with this.

Even though I had half of the paint left, I had to throw it away. "Golden coffee" is a bit of a misunderstanding for me. I now look more than strange (with the color code-named "grandmother's hope"). Now you have to hide the roots of this terrible shade, combing more light strands to the side.

The color after the 5th wash turned out like this:

Despite the hellish shampoo that washes away everything in its path, the color is still very intense, it has hardly brightened, and the red pigment does not think to wash out !! Sits as if nailed. My hands are already reaching for Estelle's wash (I have it at home), but I'm afraid to injure my hair - I've done too many experiments on them over the past 1.5 months ((. Naturally, I won't recommend this shade to anyone - except for someone who wants a super resistant eggplant-burgundy color! Then you are here !! Now the other shades of Palette have completely lost the desire to buy, as I remember - so I will shudder!

Folk remedies, alas, did not help me. It’s better not to remember how I tried to make a wash with cinnamon.

Therefore, in the end, I painted over this disgrace with Syoss 5-1 Light chestnut paint.

And one more experience of coloring Palettes - this time with an ammonia-free line of paints.

Thank you for attention!
