  • - 8 petals of silver brocade 0.5 cm wide (length of silver pieces 7 cm);
  • - 11 sharp kanzashi petals from a white ribbon 2.5 cm wide (cut out squares with a side of 2.5 cm);
  • - 8 diamond-shaped leaves from a white tape 2.5 cm wide (they will need 8 pieces of tape 10 cm each and a wood burner);
  • - round felt base 4 cm;
  • — 1 wide hugger and half-bead-stone 0.6 cm;
  • - 8 small mother-of-pearl half-beads 0.4 cm each;
  • - glue (transparent and strong).

Ribbon snowflakes, master class

1. Cut strips from thin white satin ribbon 0.5 cm to create multilayer droplets. The snowflake will consist of three layers of four-layer petals, in total, 24 portions of segments of each length listed in the list of materials will go to the indicated parts - 24 pieces of 6 cm must be prepared; 5.5 cm; 5 cm and 4.5 cm stripes.

2. Make droplets from the segments, gluing the ends together. This can be done with glue or a lighter flame. The size of the droplets-loops will proportionally decrease for segments of different lengths.

3. Glue the droplets in size together to get the petals. Connect the parts, overlapping each other, and fix at the glued base.

4. All 24 servings of droplets you need to turn into layered petals.

5. Divide all blanks into 3 parts of 8 pieces each. Cut out a 4 cm felt base. Glue the first layer of chamomile petals on it, consisting of 8 parts. When gluing droplets, step back from the edge of the circle evenly - by 05-0.6 cm.

6. Glue the second part of the petals on top in a checkerboard pattern.

7. Add the last row from below for splendor (but the loops should be directed upwards).

8. Cut out 2.5 cm squares from white satin or ribbon. Of these, you need to make classic sharp kanzashi petals for the inner flower. And 11 parts will be spent on this flower. Bend the squares diagonally (one).

9. Bend the resulting two-layer triangles in height. Close the resulting four-layer triangular blanks at the base, glue.

10. Cut along the line from the bottom to make the petal flatter.

11. Glue 11 petals into a chamomile. Prepare a hugger, a duplicate flower and a half-bead.

12. From 8 pieces of silver brocade 0.5 cm by 7 cm, also make droplets.

13. Glue the silver layer to the center of the snowflake.

14. Drop glue and insert a chamomile inside, then a hugger with a pebble to make the snowflake sparkle.

15. To create the bottom layer of white leaves that will resemble the pointed rays of a snowflake, use the last portion of the tape: 8 pieces measuring 2.5 cm by 10 cm. Fold each strip in half. Then divide the resulting rectangle in half diagonally with a burner. Unfold the pouches. Each rectangle will be divided into 2 portions, then use only those that look like sepals. Glue small mother-of-pearl half-beads on the tips.

16. Glue the leaves with the last layer from below. Arrange them evenly overlapping around the circumference.

Approaching new year holidays, which means it's time to think about creating original decoration and independently make a snowflake using the kanzashi technique.

What is kanzashi? It is the art of folding pieces of cloth so that they form beautiful flowers. Just using the kanzashi technique, you can make a beautiful snowflake.

Beautiful snowflake made of satin fabric - great decoration interior, New Year's image, you can make a snowflake on a Christmas tree, a brooch or a hairpin.

Kanzashi snowflake - what you need to prepare for work

  • Of the tools you will need scissors, a needle and thread.
  • Glue (hot gun or Moment glue).
  • Candle or lighter, tweezers.
  • From materials, a satin ribbon 5 cm wide in white or pale blue.
  • Cardboard or piece of felt.
  • To decorate a snowflake, beautiful glue stones or small beads.

How to make a kanzashi snowflake

  • We immediately draw your attention to the fact that it is necessary to prepare all the tools and materials, because the work is painstaking, so you should not be distracted by the search for the right material and fixtures.
  • You need to cut out squares from a satin ribbon, 5 by 5 cm in size. In total, 42 squares will be needed. The number of blanks and their size may vary and depend on the type of snowflake. Therefore, if you want to make a snowflake with small petals, then you need to prepare another 3 cm wide ribbon and make blanks 3 by 3 cm in size.
  • From each square you need to make a petal. How to do it: fold the workpiece diagonally, then again and again. Get a small triangle.
  • The outer corners of the figure must be wrapped to the middle part of the workpiece to get a rounded triangle shape. It is best to work with tweezers, because it is very difficult to hold such a small detail in your hands. You can use a clip instead of tweezers.
  • The first figure is ready, now you need to fix the corners. To do this, cut off the excess and use a lighter to melt the edges. When you melt the edge, press this place with tweezers. You can also press the cut point with your fingers a few seconds after reflow. The fabric will not be as hot, but it will still have time to grab.
  • Look at the first petal - if it is uneven, you need to cut off the excess with scissors, trim and also melt the edges of the tape with a lighter.
  • We make such 12 petals. There are still 30 blanks left in order to make pointed petals. The workpiece is folded in the same way, only the edges need to be made not rounded, but sharp.
  • Cut off the excess, melt with a lighter. Make sure that all blanks are the same size.
  • We take 6 petals, string them on a needle and thread, tie the ends of the thread. It turns out a round center.
  • Now you need to glue sharp triangles together. Can be glued on with glue or strung on a thread. Only the petals are not glued completely, but in the corners.
  • We made double petals, now we need to connect pairs of petals and insert a third one, this way we get blanks that need to be fastened in pairs (sewn or glued). Thus, the rays of the snowflake are formed.
  • The workpiece must be attached to the base. We cut out a circle from thick cardboard (or from felt fabric). The diameter of the circle should be equal to the diameter of the central flower.
  • From a thin tape, you must immediately form a loop, glue it to the workpiece.
  • Next, you need to collect a snowflake: glue central part and successively rays. The work is painstaking, do not rush, everything will work out.
  • The snowflake is ready, it remains to make a few touches: attach beads or glue rhinestones.

Creating a snowflake using kanzashi technique Master class

For the flower in the center, we need triple sharp petals.
kanzashi from brocade and satin ribbon in the amount of 12 pieces.

1. Making triple sharp kanzashi petals

We take a piece of tape 4 cm wide and fold one sharp petal:

  • Align the edges of the tape with tweezers.
  • Pull up all the layers.
  • We fasten the tip without cutting it.

When the first six petals of the snowflake are ready, we collect them on a thread. Pull the petals tightly with a thread. Fasten the thread. Additionally, for the strength of the flower structure, we fasten the petals with glue.

2. Making Triple Round Petals

The next step is to complicate the snowflake, decorate it with twigs with curls.

For one branch with curls, we make blanks - we cut six pieces of white tape 5 × 5 cm.

We form a sharp kanzashi petal classic

  • We fasten the cut point over the fire. The edge of the leaf should stick together.
  • We take the petal with tweezers, draw a lighter at the place of the cut.

We form a curl.
To make a curl in the other direction, you need to heat up the cut, holding
him to the other side. We twist in the same way. Curl looks into another
side.

Curls can be made both dense and airy.

If the curl is not curled well, straighten it, heat it over the fire and twist it again.

For one branch, we need 3 curls, looking in different directions.

The branch is ready.

We need seven branches.

5. We collect a kanzashi snowflake

When the branches are ready, we collect a snowflake.

Glue round petals between the petals of the flower.

We will glue them inside the triple round kanzashi petals.

And you can’t buy such accessories in a regular store.

Carved snowflake from satin ribbons

To create a snowflake, you will need the following consumables:

  1. Rhinestones,
  2. Middle stud/cabochon earring,
  3. Tools: tweezers, torch/lighter, heat gun.

Let's start creating thin sharp kanzashi petals, which we will turn into curls. We use a piece of satin ribbon 5x5 cm, fold it into a triangle and bend it again into a triangle. We turn it into a sharp petal and clamp it with tweezers at the very edge.

We cut off the excess. We melt the place of the cut over the fire and while it is still hot, we turn the tape into a tube with tweezers. We hold a little so that the petal has time to curl. If the first time did not work out, you can again heat the cut on the tape and wrap it again.

One branch will require curls turned left and right. And also make one and two slightly tilted to the left and right. Such details can be made by heating the edge of the petal and slightly bending it with your fingers in the right direction. Let's start assembling the branch. Glue the two parts, tilted to the left and right.

Glue a straight petal between them, and place glued curls to the left and right of it. Such branches will need 5 pieces. Let's get some more details ready. From segments of a satin ribbon 2.5x2.5 cm we will make sharp petals and glue them in three pieces. You will need 10 of these petals.

Let's start creating a kanzashi flower, which will become the basis of our snowflake. From a solid satin ribbon 5 cm wide, we will make a triangle, bend the remaining ribbon back.

Insert a piece of brocade 5x5 cm and bend both ribbons so that the top of the triangle is above the bend.

Bend the corners inward on both sides. Fold the petal, cut the ribbon and melt the edges. We make 5 petals.

Glue a blank of triple sharp petals into the resulting petal. We glue all the details into a flower, and glue triple branches between the petals. Glue branches of sharp thin petals under them.

Glue another blue decorative element and glue them between the white twigs. I note that the blue parts should be slightly higher than the white ones.

We glue rhinestones and the middle on the snowflake. As a base, I used a felt snowflake bought in a store. Before gluing the base, we will make two cuts on it so that the decoration can be put on a headband or hairpin.

Kanzashi snowflake on a universal basis

This snowflake is also in kanzashi style, but different from the previous one. It is easier to assemble and takes less time to create.

  1. Consumables:
  2. Ribbons: brocade (silver), satin (white, blue, gray) 5 cm wide and brocade (silver) 10 mm,
  3. Middle: rhinestone, cabochon or stud earring,
  4. headband,
  5. Tools: soldering iron (optional), tweezers, heat gun…

Let's assemble a multilayer kanzashi petal. Overlay the white triangle with gray and move it to the right, overlay it with blue and move it to the left, and place the brocade triangle in the center. Let's put a sharp petal.

Glue a flower from 6 petals. Prepare sharp petals of white, gray and blue.

We glue the branch, glue the blue one on the white part so that it is a little higher, on the blue one we also glue the gray one a little higher than the previous one. Cut off the base and process over the fire. Glue these blanks between the petals of the main flower. From the brocade we will make thin, sharp, straight petals, as well as curved ones: some to the left, others to the right. For 1 branch You will need 4 bent parts and 1 straight. Branches only 6 pieces.

From thin blanks we will make branches. Glue them between the white and blue sharp petals.

Let's take care of the base to close the unsightly parts of our snowflake, we will make leaves from blue satin and narrow brocade ribbon. Take a piece of blue color 5x10 cm, put it on front side brocade ribbon, fold in half and cut with a soldering iron or burner. You can do without them: clamp the ribbons with tweezers, cut and melt the cut with fire.

We glue the leaves to the base of the snowflake in two rows of 5 or 6 petals. I note that the leaves serve as a decor for the back of the jewelry, so they should not be very visible from the front. We cut out a circle from felt, cut holes in it for a headband or hairpins. My snowflake, made of satin and brocade ribbon, is ready.

Simple snowflake for Christmas

A very simple, but no less beautiful snowflake that you can make with your own hands. We will need the same materials for its creation as in the previous master classes. It is based on sharp kanzashi petals.

Let's fold the four-layer petal in the following order: silver-white-silver-white. Glue the petals into a flower.

From brocade 5 cm wide, fold the sharp petals and melt the base so that they are not through. For a snowflake ray, glue 5 such parts.

In total, 6 rays of 5 petals are required, which means you need to make 30 blanks. Each beam is glued into the gap between the petals of the flower.

It remains to glue the middle and the base of felt.

For the New Year, I want to somehow unusually decorate my house. Fortunately, on the Internet you can find many master classes with which it is easy to create any paper decoration. In this article, we will present you with an option for making New Year's snowflakes from ribbons in the technique of kanzashi.

Kanzashi was not originally a needlework technique. This was the name of the flowers with which Japanese geisha girls adorned their hair. These flowers were made from fabric and various bright patches to match the color of the kimono and eyes. These flowers were and are the only decoration for Japanese women, because they cannot wear any earrings, rings, brooches and rings.

In addition, kanzashi indicated the social status of a woman or girl who adorned her hair with them. The more flowers a lady has on her head, the richer she is. However, if a woman got married, then she was no longer allowed to wear a lot of jewelry on her head. She could attach a maximum of two flowers to her hair to complete her look.

At first, when kanzashi only came into fashion in Japan, they were ordinary simple fabric combinations that looked like daisies. Only at the beginning of the 19th century did a new style kanzashi - "tsunami", thanks to which the flowers became multi-tiered, voluminous and more beautiful.

Kanzashi tsunami were made only from Chinese natural silk self made. The Japanese themselves already dyed silk in the colors they needed, using natural dyes.

In the middle of the 19th century, the Japanese even began to open workshops in which professional fabric flowers were made for all seasons. For example, in spring, they create yellow kanzashi:

  • daffodils
  • peonies
  • peach flowers

In summer, these same flowers have green color and red in autumn.

Europeans picked up the idea of kanzashi at the end of the 19th century and began to use it not only to create a flower, but also many other forms. As a needlework technique, in Russia, kanzashi began to be used to make hairpins decorated with flowers. In this case, the petals can be made in two forms:

  • Round

  • acute

In exactly the same way, you can make kanzashi snowflakes from ribbons. Detailed master class on the manufacture of one of these snowflakes, we will present in the next section.

How to make do-it-yourself kanzashi snowflakes?

Snowflakes in kanzashi style look soft and elegant. They can decorate a Christmas tree, a brooch or a hairpin for a girl. We suggest you make this Kanzashi snowflake for the New Year:

For the manufacture of one product, you need a set of the following materials:

  • 12 satin squares with sides of 5 cm in blue and white (6 pieces of each color, respectively)

  • 37 satin squares with sides 2.5 cm blue and white
  • 6 brocade square blanks of lurex and shiny thread with sides of 4 cm
  • One circle of felt (or white or blue), the diameter of which is 3.5 cm
  • Needle, thread, heat gun
  • A small bead and a bead hugger corresponding to its diameter

The entire snowflake should consist of three main parts:

  1. The main (large) flower from square blanks of 5 cm
  2. A small flower from square blanks of 2.5 cm
  3. Twigs (6 pieces) from white and blue squares

Now let's see how to do this step by step. simple kanzashi snowflake:

  1. From three different squares - white, blue and brocade, fold diagonally so that you get triangles.

  1. Fold the resulting triangles on top of each other (on blue white, and then brocade) and fasten them with a needle, but do not sew.

  1. From this blank, make a petal by sewing it in such a way as in the photo:

  1. From a white satin ribbon, make 6 small petals

  1. Insert these petals into large ones so that they look like this:

  1. Make small double petals from small satin squares and then connect them into a flower:

  1. Glue the large and small flowers together using a heat gun:

  1. Glue the white felt circle on the wrong side:

    1. From small white and blue petals, make rays and glue them between the petals of a large flower.

      1. Stick to little flower a bead to complete the snowflake

This snowflake can be used in a variety of ways. For example, attach an invisibility or a hair band to it. Then you get a wonderful New Year's hairpin for a girl who is going to dress up in a snow maiden costume for a matinee. You can sew a dress for her with exactly the same snowflakes.

By attaching a braid to such a snowflake, you can decorate the Christmas tree very elegantly. Moreover, now Christmas tree decoration in this style is very popular and fashionable, since glass toys were relevant many years ago. You can also make a garland out of snowflakes by simply sewing them together.

At the same time, snowflakes do not have to be made of ribbons of cold shades. You can use any tape you have on hand. In any case, snowflakes will look harmoniously on the New Year tree and will not go unnoticed by guests who come to your house for the holiday.

In the video below, the needlewoman shows master class on making kanzashi snowflakes for beginners. Here you can see the process of creating a snowflake, which we described in the article. Only here a slightly different fabric was used, and the snowflake itself has a different shape.
