In general, I decided to put aside all my business and distractions for a while and began to create a new decoration for my beauty - fluffy hairpins made of felt with my own hands. Yellow suns.

Here, in the photo, the hairpins are attached to green rubber bands, tied in advance on the ponytails. It all looks very organic and neat together. You like? Then get to work! We prepare materials, read a master class and create our own sunny meadow of dandelions.

List of materials or what we need

To make these truly summer, joyful and radiant flowers from felt, you will need a standard set of materials, which you have probably already gotten used to for all the time that we have been sewing together. Nevertheless, I will again consider individual items from this list in a little more detail.

2. metal hair clips
3. needle and thread or sewing typewriter
4. carpet cutter or roller blade
5. scissors and glue gun

Basic material, which interests us today, has primarily yellow and green color. Green can take even two different shades. We will need it when we make felt leaves.

Before the purchase clamps please be very careful. Check them for performance and do not take the cheapest ones. I've come across a couple of times with terrible quality clips. It's a shame, but the money was wasted.

Roller knife if you still don’t have it, it’s not necessary to buy specifically in order to complete this master class. Dandelion will work without it. But you must have a cutter. Make sure the blade is sharp before starting work and replace it with a new one if necessary.

Felt dandelion. We smile and plow

In fact, this is, of course, a joke. We don't have to plow. I already said that the work here for half the evening. Well, a maximum for the evening, no more. And this is provided that you do not have a sewing machine and you will do all the seams manually.

So, the first thing we will do is cut out a strip of yellow felt 8 cm wide and 30.5 cm long. We bend this strip in half lengthwise and with a simple pencil (or chalk) we outline the future line of the line.

On a sewing machine or by hand, we sew a line exactly along this intended line. Then we cut the thread.

We take scissors in our hands and make cuts along the entire length of our workpiece to a width of about 0.3 cm. We make cuts from the edge of the fold and not reaching 1 cm to the edge of the strip. That is why we performed a line a little earlier. So we marked the boundary beyond which it is impossible to cross.

We cut our strip slowly, slowly, so that everything is smooth, neat and beautiful.

After everything is cut, we gradually apply hot glue and begin to twist our strip as tightly as possible at the base (where the line is).

We glue the very beginning of the strip well, and then, step by step, we twist it, applying glue along the entire length of the edge.

Make sure the base is level. Those. the lower edge of the strip along its entire length should be at the same level and not move a millimeter from turn to turn.

A small caveat

Glue is applied exactly near the line that we drew with a pencil for ease of cutting. As you work further, you will understand why this is important.

The strip is twisted and well fixed. Now we cut every one of the resulting loops at their upper base. A job that requires attention and meticulousness, but not at all difficult and not time-consuming.

Just try to cut so that both halves are the same length. It will not be difficult to do this if, at the time of cutting, pull each of the loops up a little. Cut? Great!

We remember the lesson of biology and make leaves

Despite the fact that the dandelion already looks like a living one, it is clearly missing something, you must agree. Who will be the first to say what exactly? Of course it's leaves.

So it's time to remember school years and biology lessons for grade 6. What did the leaves of these flowers look like when you were a child? Actually nothing has changed since then. Therefore, on a free piece of paper, we draw by hand the intended outline of the sheet.

If you, like me, graduated from school a very, very long time ago, then we do a little easier - open the search and drive in the “dandelion leaf template” there. Then we print the option we like, transfer the contours to a sheet of green felt and cut it out.

After the leaves are cut out, we put them on a sheet of felt of a slightly lighter green color and adjust in the middle. If you do not have a machine, then we sew it manually.

For greater naturalness, you can also stitch veins.

We remove the extra threads and cut off the lower light green layer of the leaf at a distance of 1 mm from the top layer.

These are the leaves I got. Do you have the same? Already like a real dandelion, right? Beautiful!

The leaf turned out just right! Very similar to a real dandelion leaf.

Step back and final assembly

The leaves are ready, the flower, in fact, too. But we need to go back a little and do one more thing. And this will be the most responsible moment for you today.

We need to cut off part of the stem of the flower. The part that we smeared with glue and twisted into a tight roll.

We will cut right below the line. And it is best to do this with a sharp blade of a retractable carpet knife. An ordinary clerical knife may not be able to cope with such a thickness. And we need the cut to be perfectly even and smooth.

We need to remove all unnecessary so that no more than 0.3-0.5 cm remains from the incised petals.

Nothing came loose? If glued at the stage of twisting as I said ( and I have shown exactly how to do it.), then everything should turn out fine.

Now it remains for us to attach the leaves and our most charming fluffy yellow dandelions are ready. But then again - since our task, in addition to the flowers themselves, is also to make hair clips, it’s too early for us to stop again.

Glue leaves to the base of the flower. Two leaves per flower. One is large, the other is smaller.

Now let's measure the diameter of the dandelion stem. It turned out to be 2.2 cm for me.

This means that we need to cut out a circle of yellow felt of exactly the same diameter. We use this circle as a cap to hide all the rough work.

Apply glue to the circle detail and glue.

The final stage of our work will be gluing metal hair clips. And here, too, there are some small features.

Since the base of our felt flower is quite small, we will glue the clip on one of the leaves too. Just move the clip so that it is not visible from the top (front) side of the hairpin and glue it.

This time we use a hot gun with silicone rods as glue.

That's it. Do you like the result? I personally really like it! But even more I love how playful and unusual these hair clips look in hairstyles for little girls. Very cute and absolutely adorable!

• thin felt 1.2 mm in two shades of pink - half a sheet of each color;

Peony making process

It’s easier than with leather and, therefore, we invite not only adult needlewomen, but also our youngest readers, who modestly stand behind their mothers. Girls, you can do it!

Mark the details: with wax crayon, draw on dark pink felt three strips 3.5 cm wide and two circles for the base with a diameter of about 5.5 cm (you can use the lid for the template right size), on light pink felt - three stripes 3 cm wide.

Cut out the details without striving for the ideal, as the edges will be processed again.

From dark pink strips, cut rectangles 4 cm long, and from pink strips - 3.5 cm long. For a peony, you will need about 10 large petals and 8 smaller ones, but it is better to make petals with a margin so as not to be distracted by cutting during the assembly of the product. Now we need to work on each petal, this will require good sharp scissors. For each rectangle on one of the narrow sides, make a curved edge - a little wave, a little zigzag, somewhere in the form of a finger, the pattern does not repeat, so the flower will be more magnificent and more like a real one. You can cut the petals in pairs.

Fold each petal with an envelope from below so that it becomes voluminous, grab it with two stitches.

Sew the petal to the base so that it peeks out two-thirds. Sew the next petal close, while straightening.

Sew all the dark pink petals in a circle, trying to make an even circle inside.

Fold the light pink petals in the same way, sewing them, as it were, between the petals of the previous row in a checkerboard pattern, fixing them with a couple of stitches at the very base, they will cover the attachment point of the first row of the felt flower.

Complete the second circle, in the middle an even circle is formed.

For the middle, cut out a light pink rectangle 1.5 cm wide and about 14-16 cm long. Make a wavy uneven edge with scissors. Gather the part into an accordion.

Roll up into a snail, fastening with a couple of stitches with each turn.

Sew the core to the center of the flower and fasten the bead.

Under the bead, you can make stamens from white felt.

From the scraps, open a rectangle for the clasp, sew on the buttons and attach the base with an overcast seam, covering the attachment points of the petals.

You can make a mount with a button or just in the form of a loop.

Felt peony can be attached to any kind of hairpin.

Another decoration is not difficult to fix on a hair hoop.

Due to the fact that the felt flower is made with a button fastener, it can be attached not only to a hairpin and a hoop, but also to a bag, to a loop on a jacket, to a beret.
