Foreword

Many children experience difficulties in writing and speaking. A lot of people don't want to read. This is a real misfortune of our time, almost all parents of schoolchildren know about it.

The current system of teaching writing and reading, based on coercion and pressure on the child, brings its sad results. There are more and more people who do not want to read and who cannot write.

At one time, like many parents, I tried to solve the problems of writing and reading in my children. I have two sons, they are already adults, grown up. They study at the university, work, show themselves in creativity, in a word, successful young people.

But it all started not easy ... The guys did not start talking as early as we would like. We went to a speech therapy group in kindergarten, studied with a speech therapist. By the first grade, the shortcomings in speech disappeared, the children began to speak clearly. But in the middle of the first grade, the first difficulties associated with written speech began. Then grades in reading and writing began to decline, comments appeared in the diary, and the boys' desire to go to school diminished.

Together with the teacher, we thought: what to do? How to deal with reluctance to read, slow speed of writing dictations and classwork, constant substitutions or omissions of letters, underwriting of words, terrible underlining? The teacher explained this by inattention, inability to concentrate, laziness. To the question: "How to solve these problems?" - she gave me the following recommendations: to work on the mistakes, write misspelled words on the whole line, rewrite the entire work, learn the rules and read, read, read ... We did all this diligently, but the situation only worsened.

Then I thought: why is this happening? I have seriously analyzed my sons' preschool years and their experiences in primary school.

Gradually, step by step, a program of action began to be built, aimed at teaching children the correct written and oral speech. And so the technique “Lettergram - to school with joy” appeared.

Since 1995, teachers, educators, psychologists in Moscow began to use this technique to correct speech in children. Experimentally tested this technique, which was the reason for the publication of this book.

1. How to understand if the program is suitable for a child?


Lettergram" is a technique for the development and correction of both written and oral speech in children from 5 to 14 years old. The methodology is based on the developments of psychologists, speech therapists, defectologists and neuropsychologists. It is based on how traditional ways learning, and latest ideas and teaching methods for children. The technique was tested in groups of children of preschool and school age. At the same time, all the trained children learned to read and write words, phrases and sentences.

Almost all tasks of the methodology are built in the form of a game or taking into account game moments. The methodology is fully adapted for use by non-specialists and is designed for individual teaching of children or training in small groups (no more than three people). The book presents a consistent system of classes with exercises, which in a simple and accessible form allows you to correctly form written speech in children. The results of the research of the author of the problem of speech disorders in modern children are presented simply and clearly so that every parent can help their child in time. Teachers, using the interesting exercises in this book, will useful material to eliminate dysgraphia and dyslexia in their students, and also understand the reason for the dislike of modern children for reading.

The purely practical orientation of the book makes it possible to use it in the classroom in elementary school, for independent work of the child, for parenting with the child. 2. Children with special needs

ZPR - mental retardation.

Symptoms:

Indecisiveness, aggressiveness, anxiety;

During infancy, children begin to hold their heads later, take their first steps;

Lagging skills and abilities from peers;

The child cannot perform the simplest actions characteristic of his age (shoes, dressing, personal hygiene skills, independent food);

The child is not capable of joint activities, including collective games;

Scattered attention, difficulty concentrating;

The emotional sphere is extremely vulnerable, the child is offended and withdraws into himself.

The diagnosis of "mental retardation" is made from the age of three. When a child reaches primary school age, such a diagnosis is either removed (which happens more often) or revised. If, before graduating from elementary school with constant corrective work no changes are observed, then the question of his possible mental retardation is raised.

Abroad, instead of the term "mental retardation", the term "children with learning disabilities" is used.


ONR - general underdevelopment of speech.

Symptoms:

Speech is formed later than in healthy children. Normally, the first words the child begins to speak before the year, and with OHP - at 3-4, and sometimes at 5 years;

The child may well understand the speech of others, but is not able to express his own thoughts;

The presence of grammatical and phonetic errors in speech.

ONR is usually diagnosed at the age of 3 years, when healthy child should already be actively using speech. With timely treatment and provision of speech therapy assistance, the diagnosis of ONR is removed, and the child enters school without serious speech problems.

What specialists are required for this diagnosis:

Speech therapist/defectologist;

Neurologist;

Neuropsychologist / psychologist.

When using the methodology, be sure to use an integrated approach. Also necessary are speech therapy massage and gymnastics, proposed in the book “Lettergram from 3 to 6 years”.

Abroad, the term "general underdevelopment of speech" sounds like "children speech disorders".


MMD is minimal brain dysfunction.

Symptoms:

Mild motor dysfunction, awkwardness;

Excessive and indomitable mobility (cannot sit still);

Deficit of voluntary attention;

impulsivity (inability to stop one's urges);

Irritability;

Quick change of moods;

Learning disorder.

The diagnosis of MMD in a child is made, as a rule, in elementary school or at the age of 5–7 years. You can remove the diagnosis.

Speech therapist/defectologist;

Neurologist;

Psychologist / neuropsychologist.

When using the methodology, be sure to use an integrated approach.

Also effective are general and speech therapy massages, which are described in detail in the books “Lettergram from 0 to 3 years” and “Lettergram from 3 to 6 years”.

In 1980, the American Psychiatric Association developed a working classification, according to which cases previously described as minimal brain dysfunction were proposed to be considered as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.


ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Symptoms:

Decreased attention: children have difficulty learning the school curriculum, often lose their things;

When talking with them, they are easily distracted by extraneous things; sometimes it seems that they do not listen to the interlocutor;

Fussiness;

Forgetfulness;

Restlessness, often to the point of being unable to attend school lessons;

Excessive mobility: restless movements in the hands, in the legs;

Loquacity;

Impulsiveness: the child answers questions without waiting for them to finish, cannot wait for his turn in various situations;

Irritability, tearfulness.

Most experts agree that two periods can be distinguished when the signs of this disease are most pronounced: this is the age from 5 ( senior group Kindergarten) up to about 12 years and the second period - starting from puberty, that is, about 14 years. You can remove the diagnosis.

Use the “Lettergram” method consistently, for greater efficiency, all classes should be divided into small parts.

The Russian name ADHD is an adapted version of the English term "attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder".


ZRR - delayed speech development.

Symptoms:

The child begins late to hold his head, sit and walk;

The child is silent and does not utter even the most elementary sounds;

The child attracts attention with the help of crying, there is no reaction to appeals;

The child does not recognize objects by ear and is not able to show them in the picture;

The child speaks so indistinctly that it is impossible to make out half of the words;

The child is closed and does not contact other children;

The child does not respond to the elementary commands of adults;

At 2-3 years of age, the child does not pronounce whole phrases and simple sentences;

At the age of 4 years, the child does not pronounce complex and complete sentences.

The diagnosis of RDD is made to children under 3 years of age, who by this age have not formed a minimum vocabulary of words. You can remove the diagnosis.

Dyslexia is a reading disorder.

Symptoms:

When reading, the child skips individual words, sentences, entire paragraphs;

Constantly rubs eyes;

Complains of headache after reading;

Brings the book very close to the eyes;

Slightly covers or completely closes one eye while reading;

Gets tired quickly;

Avoids reading;

Has difficulty understanding the text, distracted, inattentive, unable to retell what was read or say what the text was about.

Dyslexia is usually diagnosed between the ages of 6 and 7. You can remove the diagnosis.

In Anglo-American clinical psychology, there is also a diagnosis of "dyslexia", but he speaks not only of a violation of reading, but also of writing.


Dysarthria is a speech disorder.

Symptoms:

The transmission of electrical impulses from the cerebral cortex to the nuclei of the cranial nerves is disrupted. There are disorders associated with certain muscle groups that are innervated by cranial nerves;

Infants have difficulty feeding, as the muscles of the lips and tongue are in a state of paresis. Such children are more likely than others to choke, tend to spit up, suckle sluggishly at the breast;

When the child reaches the first stage of speech development, the parents or the doctor, when questioned, reveal the absence of babbling words in the child, the nasality of some sounds;

The child begins to pronounce the first words late (at 2–2.5 years);

Limited mobility of facial and speech muscles. The speech of such children is blurred, the sounds are fuzzy, the voice can be quiet or, on the contrary, very loud and sharp. Characterized by loss of fluency of speech and change in its pace (slow or accelerated).

The diagnosis is made closer to 5 years, because up to 5 years speech is actively developing. You can remove the diagnosis.

Autism is a speech and communication disorder.

Symptoms:

The child does not respond when called by name;

Can't explain what he wants;

There is a delay in the rate of speech development;

Does not follow any instructions from adults;

Periodically there are hearing impairments;

Does not understand how to play with a particular toy;

Poorly establishes visual contact;

Does not smile at others;

Does not babble at 12 months of age;

No pointing, waving, grasping or other movements at 12 months of age;

Does not speak single words at 16 months;

Does not say two-word phrases at 24 months;

There is a loss of speech or social skills at any age.

The diagnosis is made at 2-2.5 years.

Cerebral palsy - cerebral palsy.

Symptoms:

Manifestations of the disease in different patients are individual, while certain signs may prevail or be completely absent;

Muscle tone disorders: increased tone in the legs, arms or throughout the body. Often this leads to the formation of uncomfortable postures that a person is unable to control;

Slow involuntary movements of the limbs (often hands);

Weakness in the arms and / or legs up to paralysis;

Convulsive seizures - attacks of involuntary contractions of the muscles of the limbs, sometimes with loss of consciousness and involuntary urination;

Speech disorders: inarticulate pronunciation of sounds;

Violation of coordination of movements, unsteadiness of gait;

Mental disability (a rare symptom): while the patient has difficulty counting, he may not be able to read, etc .;

There may be hearing impairment (one- or bilateral deafness) and vision (decreased visual acuity, partial or complete blindness);

Possible mental disorders: aggressiveness, slowness, irascibility, tearfulness;

Sleep disorders (difficulty falling asleep, frequent nocturnal awakenings, insomnia).

Cerebral palsy can be detected immediately after the birth of a child, and can manifest itself gradually in infancy.

3. About the causes of problems ...

Coming to the reception from 5-6 summer child, parents very often wonder why they are asked about how the pregnancy went, because so much time has passed. But it is precisely how the pregnancy proceeded, how the birth took place, how the baby developed in the first year of life, and affects his further physical, mental, speech and intellectual development. Let's stop at this important stage.

A child developing in the womb is endowed with its own consciousness, it is able to feel and respond to external influences with certain reactions. The baby not only hears sounds, but also remembers those that are repeatedly repeated. A newborn who is barely 3-4 hours old calms down as soon as he hears his mother's voice. Newborns are soothed by the familiar beat of the mother's heart.

In the second trimester, an emotional bond between mother and child is established and strengthened. Each emotion experienced by the mother is transmitted to the fetus through the corresponding hormone, and the baby, by its behavior, informs her of her joy or discontent. It is very important during pregnancy to maintain a good mood, a joyful attitude, to be in harmony with yourself and in harmony with the outside world. First of all, every mother should convince herself that the most important task for her is to endure and give birth to a healthy child. And all life's troubles are not worth sacrificing the health of the baby.

Make it a rule to have daily conversations with your baby. Tell us about your health and mood, about the weather outside the window and plans for the weekend, about shopping and visiting your parents. In the evenings, connect the dad who has returned from work to the conversations. Let him also tell you both what interesting things happened to him during the day. No matter what these conversations will be about, the main thing is to make the child feel like an important member of your small family. This will further have a beneficial effect on the development of the nervous system and speech of your baby.

The best music for the baby is the singing of the mother. Mom's singing has a beneficial effect on the development of the upper limbs, small hand movements. If dad sings, then the development of the lower extremities is accelerated and in the future the child begins to walk early.

The communication of parents with the child during the period of intrauterine development forms in him a sense of security and confidence in the benevolent attitude of the world around him.

This amazing period from the moment of fertilization to the birth of a newborn is called childhood before birth. In the whole life of a person there is no more complex, unusual, but also responsible stage.

Foreword

The most wonderful and fruitful period in the development of a child is the preschool age. In this book, we will not only consider important moments in the life of a child from 3 to 6 years old, but also present unique methods for his harmonious upbringing and development.

I have two sons, they are already adults and successful. When they were preschoolers, I needed a lot of diligence and patience in terms of their development and preparation for school. Of course, not only knowledge of psychology and neuropsychology helped me, but also practical advice my mother, a kindergarten teacher, a teacher with thirty years of experience, which she generously shared with me. 1. Physical and mental development child


Preschool age is the most amazing, the most productive. The child develops at an extraordinary rate. In the period from 3 to 6 years, the baby enters the first social stage - in kindergarten, he is already preparing to become a schoolboy and goes to preparatory classes. Many parents think whether to send their child to kindergarten or not. Having worked enough as a psychologist in kindergarten and at school, I can responsibly say - be sure to take your child to kindergarten! In this regard, it is important to take into account individual characteristics the baby, his physical and mental development, the direction and program according to which the kindergarten works, and, of course, the personal characteristics of the teacher who will deal with your baby. It is at this age that the child's inclinations and abilities for certain sports, creativity, art are determined, and interaction with educators and peers will help to quickly reveal your baby's talents.
